Hi all, thought I may as well start my own thread!
Bought it last weekend off of an old guy for $4700. Wasn't exactly what I wanted, would have preferred an S pack and in a different colour, but it's growing on me now! Was a fairly good deal for the condition of the car so I couldn't really pass it up as I had been looking on and off for about a year. It is a massive step up from my 91 Lancer I had I reckon!
Don't plan on going too crazy on mods (for now at least), but I will keep you updated with what I do!

Morning after I got it:
After a wash and polish
I'm fairly keen to getting the ball rolling on a few of the plans!
Thanks man.
Yeah I wasn't sure on black rims with the colour, will have to do a photoshop when I get closer to buying some.
JB Hifi had a massive sale on today and I ended up spending $1100 on audio gear (including installation).
Got myself a JVC KW-XR816 head unit, Alpine Type S speakers, JL Audio 4 channel amp and a wiring kit.
Keen for it to be in!
very clean ride mate, gonna lower it? would look tuff sittin on super lows and maybe some 19 inch rims.
Cheers man, yeah I was thinking lows or supers, gonna try and keep it as legal as possible.
As soon as I can afford it it'll be sitting closer to earth though haha
Just after some suggestions on where I should locate the 4 channel amp. For now it is just going to be used to power the front speakers, and eventually when/if I upgrade the rear speakers. At the moment I was thinking to get the install guys to put it under the passenger seat, but I am worried something might roll under the seat and damage it.
In the next few weeks I will be building my sub box and installing that along the back seat, with room to mount the amp for that on the back of the box (facing the rear of the back seats). Just wondering what you would do, under the seat or in the boot mounted to the back of the seat?
(The amp isn't very big, 217 mm x 180 mm x 52 mm)
I've attached a drawing of the planned box to give you an idea what I mean.
Cheers

Also, where would JB have been likely to put it if I don't request a specific location?
boot, rolling around is where jb will mount it, i would mount the amp in the boot on the sub box, it seems a bug sub box for 1 sub, i would suggest moving the sub accross to one side of the box and mounting the amp on the other side
Then if you decide to go a second sub you can moddify the existing box
my 2 cents
Cheers Jonesy
sorry mine isn't in goole sketch up but i haven't re-downloaded it since i changed my computer
Yeah I went that size only for one because it says in the guide for it a recommended volume of like 82L, and how that is it is like 64L or something.
I had the sub and amp in my old lancer in a box that was hardly any bigger than the sub itself and it was alright, but I figured I should try and get something close to what it recommended.
If I was to run two subs, would the box need to have separated compartments for each of them to make them function better? Also, a mono amp wouldn't be able to run two would it?
And paint is fine lol, it was only in sketch up so I could print out the sizes of the pieces to cut haha
Yeah, I am a bit unsure of black rims on some cars. I don't reckon it'd suit this colour too well to be honest.
Hanging out for all this to get in the car:

Was just driving home from dropping my sister at work and the temp gauge went up to nearly the whole way and started beeping. Pulled over and found coolant all over the ground and turns out a heater hose has started leaking. Walking home in thongs wasn't too fun!
So now the stereo install is going to have to wait until next week sometime for Dad and I to fix it up![]()
Going to get a new heater tap, part of one of the valves was just breaking apart when we had a look.
Anyone got a rough idea on the cost of a heater tap?
hey mate you can buy these from Ian Jones auto port rd cost about 22 bucks when i got mine for my ss
\ TUNED LEGS BY MYSELF LOL
Alright, Cheers for that, a lot cheaper than I had anticipated. Good news indeed haha
Got it all fixed Friday night, new heater tap was $17 from Sprint. So glad it wasn't something major! It's a bugger of a spot to reach into though
Went and bought all the supplies needed to build the sub box ready for the stereo install next friday. Will work on it on my day off Friday and Sunday. Getting pretty keen to have some good sound to be honest.
I built the sub box while I was off today, went pretty smoothly. Just need to carpet it and then install it next weekend!
Pretty happy with the result.
