Hello all,
Don't think I have posted my (main) ride yet so here it goes....
2001 VX S1 Equipe, built 8 May 2001, delivered 24 May 2001 at Bathurst Holden (Original owner lived across the road from old Bathurst Holden site, that is what I am assuming). I bought it 8 March 2011. Currently only has 54,000km on it (when I bout it had only 37,000!!). Drives like new, has the odd rattle evry now and then like all commodores of this vintage.
Following work has been done on it
- Panelbeating: After having it for only 3 days, I dinged it in parking lot, had not driven a big car for a while. New bumper, tiebar, power steering cooler. Then, in August last year hit a roo - new bar, bonnet and headlight. Day after I got it I did get some PDR work done on bootlid.
- New A/C compressor, idler pulley, TX valve, A/C regas - all this work done under warranty.
- Swaybar bushes (front)
- New seat back panel - bought from wrecker, old one had ripped.
- New tyres - old ones had perished, new set of OE Bridgestone RE92s fitted.
- Front brakes machined and pads.
Car is 100% standard down to the CD/Tape Player. Only parts on it that are not genuine holden are some of the service items that have been replaced over the years.
Very clean mate, what are you plans for it?

Timmy was a chemist's son, but Timmy is no more, for what he thought was H2O was H2SO4...
Thanks MC. Not much planned at this stage. Probably drive it into the ground then rebuild it. Am currently only a student; simply maintaining it in excellent condition costs enough. Just as a thought; if/when E85 becomes available in my local area I'll add a conversion kit which currently retail for about $500, in an attempt to improve its environmental performance.
My thing is more about keeping cars factory stock but fitting rare/unusual options and accessories. Like, I found a smokers kit and fitted it despite the fact that I don't smoke in this car (the VB OTOH...LOL). Am looking for other factory accessories, like an insect screen (rare as!), first aid kit, safety triangle; save a sunvisor for sale but it was very dear, the wrong colour, and quite ugly anyway. Found the rear smokers kit on ebay, but the item came with half the console and had the loom cut (dill....)
However.....should it be damaged and the damaged Equipe-only parts are no longer available (i.e. wheels, seat fabric etc) this may change would be open to a nice leather interior or different wheels, for example. However I'd like to keep it numbers matching for as long as I can, I am more into classic cars than the modified item so I'm a stickler for originality, and apply classic car philosophy to my daily driver![]()
