Yeah it's easily over looked considering how nice the front is. That’s what usually gets everyone’s attention.

It's defiantly time to take some more pics though with the new wheels. My current pics with the new wheels are quite sad.

Default Front Bar

How much did the front bar conversion set you back?

Quite a bit. The pricing alone on lights is enough to steer most people away as you have to change the front headlights as well as purchase the driving lights which are also expensive.

Well I've given in and started a new project. I've decided to upgrade to a LS1.

After a little consideration I decided to go with a conversion. After some searching I went to the auctions and got me a donner car. A written off VX SS with low km's. It is auto but that doesn't worry me.

I got the donner car home and started striping everything out of it.

I've dicided along with the must haves to have the LS1 (i.e. engine, k frame, coumpters, looms, gear box, tail shaft, diff, fuel pump, etc) I'm going to transplant the black interior in my car, and the power windows.

That means that there is going to be a fair amount of parts left over that I will sell both from my car and the donner car. I have a thread about the parts in the for sale section.

I'll try to keep up to date with the progress.

Just a quick photo of the engine from the donar car before I started any work. More pics to come as I progress.

So the engines out and I've pretty much got the interior completely out just have the wiring loom and fuel lines to be removed, then it's time to start striping the VT.

Great write up mate and awsome car. Just a bit lighter than mine. And yes the wheels really set it off. Just asking, im thinking about undergoing a similar project. What would i be looking at to by a wrecked vx from the auction.

Thanks mate.

Purchasing a wreck for the auctions can be a bit tricky as the is a lot of interest in SS's so it will depend on the condition and what is salvageable, if it is a repairable write off or a stat w.o. so I've seen them go from $4000 - $15,000.

Also you can't quite tell what is always damaged. In my case so far I have to get a new K frame and radius rod.

It is preferable to get a whole car as there are so many things that you'll need for the conversion. There is a lot of work to be done but not as much as a custom job. I'm just glad that all this stuff is straight swap.
