    I like the kit! You just need to get the VX headlights with the pointy corners to fit your kit! Like these....

    Then just get the VX calais rear tail lights and garnish and your ride would look awsome

    Nice ride man, enjoy. Any plans to blow some coin on it?

    Nice car.

    Yes new sound systems in VT's is imperative. My sound sucks and I play loud heavy metal in mine. It sounds so stale.

    Well im thinking a muffler to make it sound a bit grunty, but not sure what to get or how to go about it! And definately new speakers! Im not sure which ones to get either, im only 17 and dont really have much of a budget, so maybe like max on $500-700 for speakers and a headunit?

    Can you get mufflers that you can easily input a silencer into them? To make it sound real quiet like the stocky?

    Anyway thanks for the warm welcome!

    Just get a 2.5" cat back exhaust, your wasting your time just putting a muffler on. You can pick up a red back exhaust system for no more than $350 and it will sound beasty. I got a 2.5" pipe + hi performance muffler for $120 without fabrication from this guy: F/S: Exhaust Stainless Steel Pipe and cost me $80 at rex's exhaust to get it fitted/fabricated.

    And $500-$700 on headunit + speakers you could do it. Though it is a tight budget.

    Man dont mean to sound stupid...but urh what is Garnish? And does anybody have a picture of those VX Headlights?

    Hmm what would be a estimated budget for a half decent setup then? (for stereo that is)

    Thanks again!

    Garnish = bootpanel. You could get a decent stereo for $700 mate to start off with, autobarn have a few good kenwood packs going on at the moment I think.

    It depends what you want though, like 6x9's, splits, subs, amps ect. Do you want big bass?

I dont know anything about the car stereo setup's i will have to check out other peoples and see what i like best i guess. But yes i would like some decent Bass for my doof doof

    And maybe some gizmo to plug my Ipod into it?

    This is what I have:
    Kenwood 50x4 mp3 - $130
    Kenwood 350w 6x9's - $120
    Kenwood 250w 6" 3way - $80 (on special)
    Kenwood 12" 1000w sub $149
    Monoblock $250
    Kenwood 4 channel amp - $100 2nd hand off a mate

    Which = $829 without wires/amp kits

    And that is a fair budget setup which puts out a lot of bass and the sound is clear.

    That was just to give you an idea

    Sound like you should get an alpine or JVC headunit if you want to plug our ipod into it. You can pick up a JVC headunit with ipod connection stuff for around $200 and a set of 6" and 6X9" would set you back anymore than 400-$450.00 for decent ones.
    Plus if you want to run 6X9"s in the parcle shelf then you will need some spacers as its illegal to cut holes in your parcle shelf to fit 6X9"s. (Ps i don't own a Vt so i don't know if they come stock with 6X9s in the back)

    heres some Vx headlights and VX tails lights and boot garnish

    The front of your car would look like this with new headlights

    You can see the inner lower corner is pointed, so it fits the front bumper.

    And the garnish was pointed out up there ^ its just the bit that goes between the back lights, and then with the back lights to match, it just looks alot more slick and modern than the VT version.

    To save money on your stereo, forget about 6x9's. Their only purpose is to add bass to your system, and you say you want sub/s anyway (one 12" is enough, although two 12"s or one 15" will go very loud) so they'll take care of the bass for you. You don't want two or more bass drivers of different size, they start cancelling each other out and sounding quite bad.
    So what you need to do is focus on your source (head unit), front stage (6" or 6.5" splits), bass drivers (sub/s) and power supply (amp/s).

    For a good quality head unit I'd go for a Pioneer or Alpine. You can get some good mp3 head units these days for not too much $$$. Pioneer are my favourite, love the look of them and have always used them so I am familiar with all functions and whatnot.

    Front splits - you have plenty of options here, just go around to different stores and have a listen to different speakers and see what ones sound best to you, that fit into your budget. JB Hifi is a good place to start. I also suggest JB for your head unit purchase, so maybe a deal can be worked out if you buy multiple items from them. And by the way, don't be shy to ask them for a better price than what they have displayed, they can ALWAYS do a better price, believe me.

    Sub/s - Seeing as you have a small budget, I'd suggest a single 12" of good quality. If you can afford to stretch your budget at all, more/bigger subs will obviously go louder, but remember with more/bigger subs comes extra costs (bigger amps to power them, bigger enclosures, possibly heavier cabling etc.) so a single 12" would do you well. Any smaller probably won't go loud enough for a big car like yours. Again, try to get around to stores and have a listen to different subs to see what you like best. If you can, try to get a listen to some subs already installed in cars to see what they really sound like already installed. Some decent brands to look at without spending too much are Pioneer, Kicker, JBL, etc.

    Amp/s - definitely go for a Response amp from Jaycar. Their amps are fantastic quality for their price, can't be beaten unless you get a good deal on second hand stuff. You'll need to amp your sub obviously, and the front splits. You two options;
    *buy two amps, one to power each, a single channel dedicated sub amp for the sub, and a two channel amp for the splits; or
    *buy one amp to power the lot, a 4 channel with the two front channels powering the splits and the rear two channels bridged to the sub.
    For budget purposes, and also to save space in your boot I'd go for a single 4 channel amp. Jaycar's 4x100 Wrms amp is a great amp. Just make sure the front splits you buy can handle 100 Wrms, shouldn't have too much of a problem though, I used this amp to power little 4" Kicker coax's in my old VK and never blew them. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...=&SUBCATID=595

    Then you have to worry about all the other costs, installation (do it yourself or pay someone else to do it for you?), fabrication (sub box and possibly speaker pods for the splits if you choose to have them?), and wiring (power cable from battery to amp with inline fuse at the battery, speaker cables, RCA cables from head unit to amp, thin remote wire from head unit to amp to switch it on, and about 1m of the same gauge cable as your power cable to earth your amp to the chassis of your car). This all amount to a fair bit of cash. To save costs you can buy a pre-fab sub box, won't sound great but will do the job... you can buy amp wiring kits with all the cables you need... and you can just mount your new speakers in the original pods/speaker holes, just make you buy the same size speakers as the originals so you don't need to make any modifications to your doors.

    That's about it... can't believe I typed all that out. Biggest tip is to definitely get your amp from Jaycar, great value for the amount of power they give out, and very good quality sound too. You can also look at their splits and subs too... their splits are very good (have heard them personally and I rate them above Pioneer/Kenwood etc.) and apparently their subs aren't too bad either, just make sure to listen to them before buying. You need to be happy with the sound they put out.

    Brands to steer clear of;
    Sony Xplod - apart from their head units they are WAY over priced for their quality.
    Boss - very bad quality equipment. Amps reportedly known to catch fire a lot, and they also love to use big numbers on their boxes to make their stuff look good for a cheap price. 1000W !!!! Yeah right... you need to look at WRMS when looking at power ratings. Boss only display supposed max power ratings, whereas the better brands will display their RMS ratings which is a much better indication of their actual power rating.

    There are other that aren't hard to spot.. generally if it's cheap and sounds far too good for the price it's probably crap and you should steer clear of it.

    I personally would not risk dealing with the guy selling the garnish, going by his feedback. But that type of garnish would looks good on your car. Keep looking on ebay for a more reliable seller.
