Just a tip... if she's out in the weather all day and night then give it a good clean and then two layers of a wax/sealant. I say two layers because it's better to apply two thin layers than one thick layer. Just reapply once every couple of months and it will protect the clear coat from tree sap and bird poop.

Well as everyone knows, coolant doesn't just run out (like a/c gas)... so my lack of coolant was due to a slow leak.

How do I know all this? Because it turned into a big fcuking leak today!! Drained probably half the radiator (down to where the hole was) in < 30 seconds.

Fortunately it was while I was parking the car outside work, so I didn't get stuck anywhere ... mobile radiator repairers and $380 later, I have a new radiator + oil cooler, apparently in that rad the oil cooler is mounted inside and it's more economical to replace the whole lot than transfer the cooler.... so I have a new one of them too. Given that the radiator is somewhere in the order of $250, I'm not too upset about the price given they did it on the spot within about 3 hours of my first phonecall.

30 minute crawl home tonight, and the temp needle didn't move a single millimeter off normal operating temp

Shouldn't the dealer be forking out for the cost of the radiator? No matter what there is mean't to be a minimum of 3 month warranty for 2nd hand dealer cars.

By the way as far as a wax or sealant goes I can recommend Meguiars wet-look Polymer Sealant or their #21 Synthetic sealant.

Cool will keep those in mind

Yes the dealer is obliged to repair, but that involves having the car towed to their service agent, probably a few days away, and probably a dodgy patch job.

It's the only car I have access to, I need it to get to and from work as there's basically no public transport in the area... and I like to know it's been replaced. I paid for peace of mind and a same day fix.

And no I won't be chasing the dealer for it, they aren't obliged to cover it if I've gone ahead without their approval...
