cheers mate! managed to rectify my needle problem, I had a look at a few dashes down at my wrecker mate's and have borrowed one for the weekend to line my needles up to. I should hopefully get the extra leds next week some time too.

I'm also getting my lpg installed on tues so I can finally start a boot install

ergh woke up this morning to a flat tyre on my car... took it off and found a crack in my rim and tyre

its about 2.5cm long on the inside of the rim, and a reasonably deep cut in the tyre. Will hopefully get it repaired but might be up for a new rim/tyre or maybe both.

I'm not sure how it happened, was told it could been something i ran over flicking up and hitting the rim at the right angle.

About time for an update I reckon! Picked up some clear side indicators today.. woo!
Managed to save a bit of money so I've organised to get lowered springs, new exhaust and calais chrome window panes fitted in the next few weeks. I've also got the paint here to colour code the bumpers and mirrors and will get right on it this uni holidays.

Decided the stereo needed a bit of upgrading so I've bought a set of Boston Pro60 splits for the front, and am organising to buy a bulkpack of dynamat and a Boston G5 12" dual 4 ohm sub for the back All of that will go in this holidays too.

Managed to source a whole heap more of those red LEDs for the dash and will compete the conversion when i get some time.

Still haven't got my mag wheel back from repairs so been cruisin around with a suss lookin stocky on the back, been getting a few bad looks from people for it :P

Anyway here's a picture of the new splits, should be a huge improvment on those old yellow pioneers

After all that is done the only other thing I want atm is new tinting, and further down the track maybe some new seats would be nice.

Actually I've had a few ideas on how to do the dash properly, I've gone out and bought a bread board and some spacers, I'll cut it to size for each instrument dial and mount it neatly by glueing the spacers on the existing pcb. The breadboard will allow me to mount the LEDs correctly and will also let me muck around with the positions quite easily afterwards too. Right now it's all sort of floating inside there, suprised it hasn't shorted out to be honest haha

Hi there Bezz.

Just a quick note regarding the water leak issue. I bought a brand new VY SS ute that was doing the same thing.. To cut a long story short, I got ****ed around with it so was given a full refund and a sharp deal on a VY Maloo... Only to have that do the same.. They ended up replacing the door and also the rubber around the top of the door frame. Aparrently they revised them for VYII and VZ, they now have a small chanel in them.. Maybe that will help... Cheers.

updated first post 20/05/08

Got my rim back finally, no more crack and no more looking like a bogan cruising around with stockies on the back!

Going to get stuck into my car from now on as I'm finally starting to get some more time on my hands.

Stereo is first priority (audio is my no. 1 passion really) and I'm just gonna do a few subtle changes on the car to make it look a bit less... stock.

I've listed the changes I'm gonna make in the first post, although I'm still unsure whether I'm just going to colour code the stock bumpers or replace them with SS extensions. Thoughts?

Managed to get rid of the water issue by adjusting the door. Good to know tho, I'll definitely be buying the VZ rubbers when these ones go!

So i've got the new set of splits, a dynamat bulk pack and a ****load of wiring sitting on the floor in my room waiting for rain to stop. Damn it sucks not having access to a garage, and its sucks even more driving around with blown speakers in the car!

Also got my surface mount LEDs today after waiting almost a month for them.. can finally design my new LED dash template Will post up the results when I'm done.

so ive designed a circuit to suit the white led's around the speedo cluster, and after some testing I will convert it to a pcb design. Here's the speedo dial so far:

With this config I'm getting the right voltage readouts, so next is to apply it on a strip board to get the right positioning. After thats determined I will make a nice profesh looking pcb.

Today I also started dynamatting my front doors, managed to get all the glue and dirt build up off the driver's door, so now its ready for the dynamat to be stuck on. I'll get some pictures tomorrow of my progress. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I should have both doors and the boot done, and my new bostons installed
