OK, I have just gotten up from a very long weekend!
Saturday we started at about 10.30 and I believe we finished at about 6.30.
Yes we did laugh at a few instructions which we thought were worded strangely but we did get through it in the end.
First problem was which way to mount the coil packs. With the terminals close to the bonnet it was a bit tight for the leads so I opted to install it with the terminals close to the charger.
Second problem was actually mounting the MAF. The MAF has a diameter of 82mm where the hose was about 76mm along with the air filter. I tried for about 1/2 hour to get them on with no success. We ended up going to Repco to buy an adjustable size air filter and also intake rubber tubing stuff. Again they weren't the size I wanted but were flexible enough to stretch over the MAF.
Third problem was the drive belt. The air conditioning pipe from the cooler to the compressor didn't allow the belt to fit without rubbing on it. This was bent out of the way enough so that it didn't cause a problem.
Fourth delma was where to connect the cooling fan to. I had cable tied the fan to the power steering cooling lines just behind the number plate and ran the tube along side the radiator hose. After much discussion I ended up running the cable to just inside the cabin an connected it to a power socket I had made for the GPS.
After all this I primed the fuel pump a few times before starting the car just to make sure everything was fine then gave it a kick over without any hassles.
Now after driving it for a bit I have now realised that the intake pipe into the charger and the coil pack are both rubbing on the insulation of the bonnet. There is enough give so that both don't actually touch the metal of the bonnet though. Maybe the VZ bonnet on a VX is a little bit lower
I have now completed painfully 200km without going over 3500rpm but sometimes in sticky situations did go over a little bit but still haven't given it a boot full yet. I have also noticed a rattle that I have heard before when the throttle it about 3/4 open from the motor is now showing it self more now. I am not sure what it is but I am afraid of what it could be. But maybe its just the headers playing with me.
I will post up the pictures once I find the camera hidden somewhere in the garage.

Keza
Nice work mate, enjoy and I gather the ECU worked out good for you also?
Chiptorque got it all done in time etc?
The sparkplugs came in today so I will mail them out tomorrow.

sweet car man.... has given me a couple of ideas for bodykit for my car. (mainly the side skirts)
Hey Kezza, top job mate (and to you all). How far from the Blacktown/Mt Druitt area are you as it would be good to see the beast in the flesh?
Tim, yeah mum did take the ECU down to ChipTorque and got it done before she had to fly back to Sydney.
The spark plug I broke was one of the old ones. I wasn't sure which way they turned and got the wrench at a funny angle which snapped it.
I might still play with the coil pack as it is rubbing on the bonnet support and the intake pipe was rubbing as well so I will see how they go.
Pip, just be careful when ordering them though. I had Holden supply the correct side skirts but not the correct end capping.
Radarak, I live in the south west. There will be a meet up in the NSW Chapter section this Friday night that I might be going to. Just need to see what hasn't come up yet that I don't know about.

Yep coil pack needs adjusting a bit I think
reinstall it on bracket with the wide plug towards the throttle body and then add 2 small washers between bracket and plenum at front bracket screw. Those 2 changes will sort that
one
The air intake - keep an eye on that, would have thought it should be clearing just fine

VROOOOMMMMM ... whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssstleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hey Tim, what boost is it running? Kez doesnt know and everyone I know keeps asking me, if the owner doesnt know how the hell will I know![]()
Thats easy
Every Raptor kit for an ECOTEC in the ProSteet form runs 10psi, have been at this pressure for years now, ever since first kit in fact!

yup mine flashes to 10.5 PSI in the manifold.

cool cheers for that. ill keep it in mind
Just a quick update.
Its now been a week since the supercharger has been installed and I am surprised that it doesn't use any more fuel than what it normally did.
The last tank went for about 530km which is what the car did on a bad week. That was flooring it everywhere as well. So happy with the result so far.
Only issues that have come up is the intake into the supercharger is a bit high, but I am getting another one that sits lower, and the trip computer is out quite a bit, try a DTE of 1000km!

Thats great and totally NORMAL to be getting excellent fuel economy. The Raptor PROSTREET (Stage 1) for VY VX and VY will usually return better than stock economy if you drive it really easy, in fact what I am trying to say is that you can exceed stock economy figures. I was always impressed too, many others have been as well.
The DTE can be altered, contact CHIPTORQUE and they will inform you how it can be done, would involve ECU going back to them once you measure a couple of things. In fact if you check my VS - VY thread you will see new info there regarding CT tune modifications.
Will get onto the intake support arm for you, forgot about it till right now.
Did you recieve your plugs yet? If not they will be VERY close to arriving

Tim,
I will let you know how the car goes when I drive to QLD in November. Last time I drove up there I got about 800km out of the tank.
Thanks for the info, I will contact them regarding the trip computer. I know its showing the incorrect fuel used.
I haven't received them but unsure why you are sending new ones. The one I had broken was an old plug.

Correctly gapped IRIDIUM spark plugs are part of the kit, I didn't have them when I sent your kit out. They further increase power, reliability and fuel economy.
All part of the the deal!

I got the iridium plugs with the kit or weren't they correctly gapped?

Sounds good mate,
Interesting you mentioned the DTE cycle. Mine says I have approx 1000kms to travel when I fill up the tank, is that what you mean?
I will advise CT while my ECU is up with them about this as well. Keza87 you can also get a custom tune done to the auto shift points, raising of the rev limiter etc with CT now so check how the car runs on WOT and do not hesitate to contact CT if you have any issues with the shifts hitting the limiter.
Yeah that's what I mean. When I fill up it says that I have a distance to empty of 1000km and also the reading of the fuel used is incorrect.
The car is manual and I have only hit the limiter by accident on one occasion and that was showing in the red line area. Car is running well on WOT.
I will enquire CT about the cluster readings

Cool, if it has been less than 2 weeks I believe CT will do the adjustment free.

Kieran shhhhhh ... while Tim is happy to supply you with free Iridum plugs make sure you remind him that he needs to send 6 to suit an Alloytec
yes I too am surprised at the DTE and couldnt believe it til Kez showed me. Even after a good hour or so of driving it still hadn't budged off 1000 km
Saw this today, the sound it makes is (no other way to put it, orgasmic)
