the Green paint on the backs of those after market dial facias dont come off they r made differently (Green layers under the clear laminte if u look close) id suggest sell it and buy a genuine 1 or keep ur old 1.

The one that's in the car is an aftermarket job and Phreddy was able to wipe off the green layer with a very light grit sand paper... The one which I just got is an original as far as I can see....

I know VS & older the dials are actually made from that green stuff which means you need to go custom if you want white LED's but the VT-VX ones seem to be different...

Will give it a crack and go from there...

The 1 that uve got is definatly after market (not original) and can not b changed, i have a couple of the exact same fascias with me u cant sand back the clear laminate 2 get 2 the green paint under neith if u do u will b left with the white paint thickness thats on the fronts of them and no doubt ud go through and put a hole in it.

The 1 in ur car do u have a day time pic of it close up? it definatly doesnt look original as the writting is different 2 the originals but if these after markets types can b changed i'll b able 2 use them 4 future reference along with greg 2 get the VT/VX kits ironed out and under way

This is obviously the one in the car... Got it from JHP.com.au

And the new is a VDO one according to the labelling... Thought that's what Holden used....

I'll give it a crack, If I screw then I'll just keep the existing one in.....

Probably going to use a 1500/2000 grit paper...

Yeah mine have VDO printed on them also but if u have a closer look mainly on the tacho side the word RPM and the numbers 0,1 and 7 u'll see wat i mean about the green paint, other parts u'll get the white paint off the back but u'll b left with the same clear under neith coz the green has been printed on from the front not the back like the originals and that JBH 1. let us know how u go but i know with mine u definalty cant do it.

Edit: should have VDO Australia printed on them not just VDO.

Yeah thanks for that bud, ones on your VP look heaps good.... Was supposed to try and attack the green layer on the new fascia got bogged down with other crap...

---------------------

Update:

After taking off my engine cover the other day I notice how filthy my engine bay way.... So I attacked it with degreaser, metal brushes & the plenium with metal polish...

I think they look heaps better.... Now just gotta make sure no1 touches the plemium now.. lol

Also was going to get a Pedders strut place installed but opted to get some new speakers & a new deck for the Mrs Beast.. Probably going to get a proper GM one..
