hello all

,
As well as owning a '94 Vr, We also own a 2001 VU. It's mainly my other half's daily driver but l thought it could do with a bit of custom look. I'll post the interior pics when the ute comes home.
Ok, info on the car:
2001 Holden VU Commodore S Pack
*Hyper Yellow in colour
*Reflective Window Tinting
*16" 225/55 Rims (Pirelli & Bridgestone Rubber)
*Bendix Stopping Power with Standard Rotors
*Factory Option Tub Liner
*HSV VU Headlight Covers
*White Bordered License Plates
The rest is pretty much stock for now, but the intended mods are:
*Satin Silver Handles
*VY Alloy Pedals
*Hyper Yellow Custom Dial
*Full Lukey 2.5" Sports System
*Maloo Bodykit
*Get the "S" stitched on the seats
*Silver Satin Shifter Button and Handbrake Button
So back to this custom/painted interior. We tried to get hold of the original exterior colour for the dash work, but no luck. So l wondered around to the local parts shop and found a similar colour. It turned out to be a ford colour (a dark cloud emerges!). My other half loved the idea that l could paint the dash so much that l was prepared to over look the fact it was a ford colour (as it was the closest match we could find) and took it home to have a go. It was practically identical to the hyper yellow. The name of the paint if any of you are asking is: "FORD-TROPIC GOLD". It's made by holts.
So l did the basics after looking here:
*Cleaned it and dried it (metho)
*Plasti-Primed it (Two Coats - Lightly Sanded after each coat)
*Painted TROPIC GOLD (Two coats - very light sanding after 1st coat)
*Clear Coated (3 Coats - Found out the hard way why needed 3 instead of two after installing the stereo..argh!)
Looks great! Nice Satin Look!! Definately brings out the dash more than the charcoal factory colour. Will post tonight the interior shots.
Update: I ended up doing the engine cover as well. Looks good, but don't have a pic of it as yet.
