smd's i find give a broader light source but you need some fairly high MCD strength ones. with a bit of luck it comes in today and then it will go straight in after a cooling system flush.

Yeah, i would suggest instead of using smd's if you wanted to do this i would go with 3mm led's 5000 mcd for the AC controls and one 5 MM led ive only got a 1500 mcd on mine could do with a 5000mcd or more i picked mine up from jaycar for about 3.65 each then you take the dome top off of them with a file and then tilt the file on a 45 degree angle and file a bit off on each side this will defuse the light and create a bit little better spread i have seen people mod thier lights alot and create soldered chains of led's which go around the dials which looks really effective but if you get really bright ones your ac controls are going be blinded at night lol

Currently working on a kit design that will supply leds and resistors pre soldered together with instructions on how to disassemble the dash and install the led's the correct way im also experimenting with the the old globes i took out all of which are blown so im taking the globes out of the holders and putting the led and resistor in there to make it look alot more professional then what ive done (just soldered the led's to the contacts on the circuit board . and yeah ive seen some stuff from asr theyre really amazing with some of the stuff they do i saw the vy console that rev needle changes colour as its going up
