Car's looking very nice mate. You'll have to show me after you get the tint done. How'd ya go pricing exhausts?
The head unit looks good, you'll find the little pocket underneath it isn't much use when taking off from the lights, I've had stuff flying out of it many times lol.

    Thanks guys.

Geoff- I want both I think. I want it to go hard, but still look classy. Restricted on cash for a while, so i'll have to save and plan the mods carefully!

Sphinx- Thanks mate. Any help I can get on what to do, best place to go, etc, would be great!

Shane- Haha, yer that pocket isn't staying for too long. I want to get a double din screen, as soon as I can afford it! On the exhaust front, a twin 2.5" x force system fitted at Unique Exhaust in Bayswater, is about $580. Thats mild steel. Stainless was about $1200. I'll go the mild! But as above, cash is low, so exhaust won't be on early next year.

    Cheers,
    Sam

no worries mate. Nanos has an OTR cold air intake and I've got the GTS setup so atleast you'll be able to have a look at both and decide on which way you'll go.

Yeah I'm in the same boat with the low cash! Lol. A pay rise would be so good right now.
We had a vt come through work for a detail with a double din screen with tv, sat nav, etc. I had a play with it while I was cleaning the interior. Makes me wanna get one as well. I wanna get an otr cai and a mafless tune before I go playing with the stereo though.
Let me know when you're planning on going to fountain gate and if I'm free I might take my new car down there as well.

I'm gonna install my new nolathane sway bar links on the weekend, so just wondering if there's any special tools or advice I need? I did it on the VN, was very striaght forward, but the VX ones look quite different.

Also, when I was at the lights, idling this morning, I noticed that it is running a little rough. Anyone know what might cause this?

    Cheers,

    Sam

99.9% of LS1's have a slight shimmy at idle. If it's running rough it could be a bad batch of fuel.

With the links and bushes, VX1 should be the same as the VN and what not i think. But VX2 had a ball joint type thing on the bottom and just bushes on the top. Shouldn't be a hard job at all

Haha, thank you for waiting patiently. Can't find my camera, so deal with the crappy phone pics...

Scott is a top bloke, and very good at what he does. Still a few bubbles yet to dry, but I am overall very happy with the 15%.

Looks great! She's begging you to lower her now! Lol. I noticed in the third pic you've got your new plates on now too. I'll have to come around and see it in person some time.

    Little bit of an update....

Going down to FTG Holden this arvo to pick up the chrome interior door handles, shifter and hanbrake buttons.

Trying to book in to get the exhaust done, but nowhere is open today.

Also, got a quote to get the front bar resprayed, and colour matched properly.

Not much else going on, put a K&N filter in, took the turtle shell off. I rang Chevs to get a price on a maffless tune. He said $850 which includes the maffless pipe, boot and 2 holde mod. Seems ok to me, so when finances are right, i'll look at taking it down.

    Cheers,
    Sam

I booked the car in to get the exhaust done tomorrow, but I'm not sure what to get.. The guy said a lukey system will have a nice note, but not too loud, which is what I want. Anyone know if lukey are any good?

Lukey are decent, what size? How many mufflers? Twin or single? Standard cats or high flows? What price?

Why did you book your car in for an exhaust when your not sure what to get?

I booked it in so I could talk to the guy there and get his opinion.

After dropping it off this morning, I settled on a lukey twin 2.5" system with 3 mufflers. No high flow cats or extractors as yet, they'll come later.

There was a VY SS with the same exhaust as what i'm getting. Sounds nice, not over the top, but has a nice note.

    We'll see how it goes......

Finally installed the chrome door handles and handbrake button last night. Didn't get the shifter in, becuase I couldn't be bothered!

Also, exhaust went on with no dramas on wednesday. Sounds just the way I wanted it, so I'm happy.

    Cheers

Just had a thought about stripping the grille, like a few people have. I think it looks pretty good, what is peoples opinions?

Also, do you think I should get the chrome strip (like on the Calais) for the rear garnish??

strip the grille. looks heaps better. chrome interior updates look good too. wonder how much the black marble auto surround and little door thingo below the radio would cost from the series 2 calais. to the wreckers! haha

The chrome handles and handbrake button look sweet. Will look good once you get the shifter button on as well. Adds a bit more luxury feel to the berlina interior.
I'd say the chrome on the calais garnish would look good on your car. Also the grill looks good chrome, to get a better idea you could check out sphinx's calais at one of the fountain gate meets, that way you can see it in person rather then photo's on the net.

To benjamino, the lower the percentage the darker the tint. It has something to do with the amount of light that can pass through the tint. The darkest I've seen on a car is 5%, I've got 20% on my old car and never had any trouble with the cops or roadworthy and its 2 shades darker then legal (so I was told when I got it done), and darkest legal is 35%. Hope that helps.
