112 will be bit on the lumpy side. the cam spec is basically what I've got but I went 114 degrees lobe sep angle on mine for minor stealthiness,, but depending on how it's tuned you might be able to hide the fact it's cammed to some degree.
Well, all didn't go to plan...
Had to cancel my tune, due to lack of funds! Few things came up, and unfortunately the car was sacrificed!
Since then, I have noticed it is making a hell of a rattle when cold. Took to local mechanic and we both suspect it is the lifters. So a new set is on the way!
Got a query though... A few people have told me the LS1's suffer cam bearing problems, where the bearings become loose and cause the cam to knock around. Has anyone else heard of this?
On another note, I figure I might do the cam before a tune, save getting it retuned! A mate has a brand new comp cam that he wants to sell me. Specs are 222/224 @ 50 duration on 112 l/c. Does this sound like an ok spec?
Cheers,
Sam

Wow, been a while since I updated.....
Finally had the cam installed along with some other goodies:
- Comp cam 222/224 112LSA
- PAC 918 valve springs
- JP double row timing chain
- LS7 lifters
- TREND pushrods
- ORSSOM intake
- TCT 2800RPM stall converter
- DUS ported t/b
- New water pump/cooler thermostat
- Trans cooler
- Elite catch can
- Mafless tune
It only made 238 RWkW, which I was a little disappointed about. No doubt the stall robbed a bit of power, but was hoping for more....
Cheers,
Sam

It has been a while! How does it sound with the cam fitted? I am toying with the idea of fitting one in mine, but I am thinking about a manual conversion first........![]()

I reckon it sounds pretty sweet with the cam. Nice little lump at idle.

Anyone care to share their thoughts on my power figure?
Talking to others and even a few workshops, I was really hoping for around the 260kw mark...
Don't get caught up on dyno numbers. Every car is different and they'll all make different power. 238rwkw through a stalled LS1 with those mods is about right on the money. The stall will rob about 10rwkw on the dyno too, but it will drive much better on the road than the numbers say. What power did it make prior to the work done?
Ah yer, thanks mate.
It made 192 just with exhaust done, so a fair 50 kw gain i guess!
That's an excellent gain, you should be happy with that. I bet it's a totally different car to drive now though.
Been a while since I've updated!
Since having the cam installed, I've had a bad run with the old girl!
First- Some old hag decided to re-arrange the front end. Lot of stuffing around with panel beaters, and after 2 months, I got her back!
In the process of repairing it, I got a new OTR, a DUS And I also got the calais front bar, with the fog lights installed.
Second- car has developed some strange symptoms. Excessive fuel usage is the first. I was getting average around 15L/100km combined, but recently it has jumped to around 19-29L/100km. Not sure what this could be..
The other thing it has developed is a very loud slap/knock on cold start ups. Before cam install, she had bad lifter noise, but never any piston slap. Well, now, the slap is clearly evident. Gonna live with it till I can afford a rebuild, or an LS3...
Then the most recent is the electrical antenna won't work... I have bench tested the antenna, working fine. My money is on the BCM, as there is no output to the antenna from this!
Here's a couple of crappy iphone pics:

if your fuel economy has gone out the window the it could be your oxy sensors. get your local workshop to plug in a tech 2 and see if it's throwing any codes. as for the piston slap, mine's done it since I've had the car with no excess oil usage so I just live with it. LS3 sounds like a good idea. while your buying one can you pick one up for me too. haha
Thanks mate.
Changed the oxy sensors not long ago, and currently not throwing any codes, so i'm stumped! Chev did say the standard injectors were almost at their limit, so i'll be getting some 42lb's soon.
doesn't hurt to get bigger injectors. get em from aes racing as fraser who used to work for speed inc now works there. he'll look after you mate.
Yer, thanks mate. I bought all my cam gear through Fraser., top notch service!
Digging up my old thread!
Car is for sale at the moment. If anyone's interested PM me, and we'll talk.
238kw isnt to much mate with the cam. I run just a tuned ls1, Ziggy OTR, diflippo 1 3/4" headers into twin 2.5" and a 2500 stally and i made 231.5kw atw. Thought it would have been more with a cam upgrade. How much u looking for the car. My mate is looking for a ls1 calais or berlina. cheers
