    Default My Chevrolet Omega CD

    Hello!
Im new here and im from brazil. Here we have the omega, an imported gm badge version of the holden commodore. Its not the omega version you have there though, its named omega because we had another car with the same name here and then came the commodore as its successor, in 1999.

Mine (1999) came basically with automatic a/c, cd player, an ecotec 3.8 v6 engine, electric seats, 4 speed automatic gearbox and some more stuff.

My fathers version (2005) came with all that plus leather seats, an alloytec 3.6 v6 with 260hp, 5 speed automatic gearbox with active select and traction control and other stuff.

The first omega we had here (in Brazil):

My omega (first model that came from australia):

(yes, the drivers position is in the left not in the right as you have)

(Imported exclusively for GM of Brazil Limited.
    By Coimex International S/A)

    (owners manual)

    My dads '05:

    Both are all stock

    Just for curiosity:
Here in Brazil the price of a new omega (we only have 1 model here) is 110000 reais, about 74000 australian dollars.

Thats what we call the VT Calais (your car) and VZ Calais (your dads car) here. They are both good looking cars with some good options too.

on that vt calais they left the handbrake on the right hand side of the centre console. If they changed everything to the left, ud think they could have putt he handbrake next to he driver

Only in the '08 model they put the handbrake in the drivers position:

Its equivalent to a VT series 1 Calais with a Berlina interior (single zone climate control, no audio control buttons on steering wheel)

His dad's is equivalent to a VY series 2 Berlina.

I only bring it up coz it was just interesting to see the vt with the berlina int... anywayyy...

Very nice cars buddy good to see our local cars all over the world How do you like yours? Its pretty much what I drive here... just sitting on the other side

VZ's had the alloytech not the VY's. But I stand corrected on the VT didn't realise there was much of a difference between them.

Only in the 99 version there was two kits of optionals, one is mine (the basic) and the other had the audio control buttons on the steering wheel, 10 slot for cds on the back of the car (i forgot the name of the slots for cd), leather seats and i dont know the rest.

About how do i like, i can only say this is a luxury car in here, 80% of the cars here have a 1.0 to 2.0 4 cylinder engine because of gas economy so mine is almost a big block (here of course), plus a great intern space so i love it, my only cons about this car is that they dont bring the v8 version

I agree that i deserved, but at least i learned the leason, by the worst way but i learned.

korn: I dont pass out 1 sec, when the car stopped i saw the 2 airbags desinflated, saw in the front (on the motor) the flames, tried to open my door, it stucked, went to the passenger side, the door stucked too and then i went outside by the passengers window because the window broke before it stopped. Then i picked up the fire extinguisher but it failed so i let it burn and run away as fast as i could. I got lucky because if i pass out or something like this ill be dead in this moment, burned with the car.

Sorry to hear you wrecked the car but luckily you walked away from it and didn't hurt anyone else! What happened to all the pictures? I wanted to see your dad's car.

btw... Commodores and Statesman are sold in the Mideast, China as LHD models with different names... Chevy Lumina/Caprice in the Mideast, Buick Royaum in China.
