Default tuning a vy acclaim for performance?

hey all, im 19 and driving a v6. i obviously cant drive a v8 or a turbo'd car. but in the meanwhile thinking of doing some performance mods. possibly? something cheap.. as i dont really want to be spending to much on performance of a v6, but yeah. i heard that vys dont have any software that allows you to tune the computer chip? is this true? if so, what else is possible? fairly cheap..
    Cheers

For those of us not on our Ps....what sort of cost would that incur minus the gears and shifter?

If he lives in Queensland he can, having a full exhuast (pacemakers to highflow cat n 2.5cat back is legal) i have it on my ute and cops have never said anything to me about it

get a nice high set of diff gears, high ratio rockers, port the heads maybe cam, and shift kit. No one will know you touched it, yet it will go so much better

Don't expect to get some cheap parts and expect massive gains.

Here's a list of some of the N/A, non strocked and non cammed options:

    Intake:
    K&N Filter = $90
    Lukey Filter = $60
    2-hole mod = $20-$30
    SS inductions = $400
    Mace Engineering CAI = $250
    Internals:
    YT 1.95 High Ratio Rockers = $700
Mace Engineering 1.9 High Ratio Rockers = $450
Mace Engineering 1.98 High Ratio Rockers = $650
    Mace Engineering 25mm Plenum/Manifold Spacer = $180
Mace Engineering 25mm Intake Manifold Insulator = $180
    Mace Engineering 69mm Throttle Body = $150-$200
    Exhaust:
    Pacemaker Headers = $350-$450
    Single 2.5" cat back = $175-$400
    Twin 2.25" SS cat back = $50-$250
    Transmission:
    Corvette Servo = $45
    Billet Servo = $170
    Transgo Stage 2 Shift Kit = $200-$250
    Diff:
    2nd hand LSD = $500
    Brand new LSD = $1500
    Mini spool = $100
    3.9 Diff gears = $200

That should give you a rough guide on how to get it going a bit quicker. Like I said, don't expect massive gains from little money.

Just a quick question, is it true that fitting a bigger MAF Meter from a V8 on to a V6 helps increase induction over the standard V6 MAF coupled with a good CAI?

My duaghter is about to trade in her VR for a VY Exec so we will be looking to do the same mods to her car...we are based in Brisbane so with the P plate laws we should be fine?

A bigger MAF will let in more air but nothing really noticeable. However, I would say the CAI would make a bigger improvement than a bigger MAF.

All performance mods are illegal but nobody would notice the bigger MAF or any internals really without a thorough inspection.

please excuse my lack of knowledge as im new to the car scence but i was told that for the CAIs you required a performance tune also the thortle bodies

For an OTR without a MAF you need a tune but just a standard CAI with a MAF doesn't require a tune nor does the larger throttle body. The cars computer will just learn itself for these. Having said that, a tune will give more power.

All states laws seem to be a bit different these days. So if your in vic, look at anything that doesn't involve you touching the engine. (So intake, exhaust, powertrain). I would suggest against doing mods to your engine, for the simple fact that if your caught you get a nice fine and a fair whack of demerits!

man why waste your money? just wait a few years and save your money and buy a v8. and in queensland you can do what you want to your engine just cant have forced induction or make it over 200kw. my gf is a p plater
