Air conditioner is cycling all the time

Hi,

I have a problem with my air conditioner in my car. It keeps cycling and doesn't stop when it hits the right temperature. It gets too cold (freezing) then the systems locks up (shuts off).

If anyone has encountered this problem before or is a tech expert please let me know...

Dead thermostat? It's switchable, isn't on permanently? ie. control relay not stuck on which engages the electric clutch on the compressor?

Me personally would consider taking to to a fridgy.
