Hi all,
I have a question regarding traction control on my VYSS, for those of you who live in Brisbane we have had an enormous amount of rain over the past few days and when driving over the last few days I keep getting Traction low warnings on my LCD display. My rear Tyres are newish and I am not putting the boot in at all, but when it happens I get a buzz noise and lose acceleration response through the peddle. Is this right??
There seems to only be a on/off mode switch and was also wondering if it’s possible to change the sensitivity of the traction control?
Regards
Rob
Not sure, Because i dont have traction control on mine. But maybe in the settings? When you turn the car to all accerories? And press up/down? Is it in there?
Just having a stab in the dark.
My 2003 VY Holden Commodore
no there isnt a setting to adjust the TC
and yes the when TC kicks in it pushes the peddle back up
cheers GM
g'day. i have been having problem's in my VYII as well when driving in the wet. however i don't think it's anything to do with traction control on mine. does it start to miss fire at all? no matter what road speed or rev range i'm doing it will not go away till the problem seem's to.....dry out? are you actually losing traction as i am not when all this goes on. i'm asking around to see if there is a common fault or something. have been told to take out the abs module out next time it happen's to cancel out traction control all together to be sure.
No the car drives fine it just seems to do it when your not expecting it to, if I was pushing it I could understand but I'm not.....I could just turn out of my street and it will warn me of low traction and back off....no a good thing to have happen.
So there is nowhere with the system it can be edited? eg PCM editing?
First off.. What tyres are on the rear? A mate just put VE SSV's on his VY and the nankangs they came with are waaaaayyyy too slippery..
-Nick.
mine does the same thing i think it could be caused by the car aquaplaneing thus giving it no traction
I would be laying my money on the wheels are slipping on the road. I accelerated normally up a hill and got low traction down here in victoria. And on Tuesday morning we had nice fog and traction control kicked in when going around a round about right next to a police station. Felt the rear end drift out a bit. I must admit, my rear wheels arn't 100% new, but still well within legal limits and do grip well in the wet if not trying to accelerate heavily.
my tc tends to go a bit mental right after i've given my car a good wash..has anyone else had this happen to them?
might be a bit of water on the sensor as the water runs over the hub inside the brake disc, and doesn't take much to get t/c operating either, it will pulsate the brake pedal, i haven't driven a holden with t/c as my vy ss doesn't have the switch and will smoke it up as i found out when booting it as i turned right from an intersection on a quiet dark road, but other cars iv driven with t/c have been touchy and brought the t/c light on pritty easily, also the excess of water in queensland wouldn't help with traction and as said when aqua planning it would go crazy. could get holden to check it out if it's annoying you but sounds normal for whats happening, especially with the heavy wet weather.
yeh..... im still not sure about the traction control thing as when it kick's in on loss of traction the accelerator pedal will push back against your foot. this is not happening. gonna find out where that abs module is and pull it next time it occur's to narrow down the option's. keep it coming though guy's, it's really annoying and want the problem gone before i gotta pay some bugger to give it a going over.
fyi....this is how bad mine is. had to drive 90 odd k's home with it miss firing and rattled 4 exhaust rubber's off...... went through 40ltr's of petrol..... WTF??!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Whenever I clean my car, soon after I will nearly always get an ESP fail message. It hasn't come up for a long time though (touch wood) but always seems to be within a few days after I have cleaned it.
I also paint my tyres and black plastics with some of that spray on tyre shine so that may also get on a sensor and bugger things up. I try to be careful when using that stuff to try and avoid brakes etc. I have had my car in several times for this ESP fail warning and they say it is something to do with a sensor that needed adjusting or something but they have never really fixed it.
