    Default Q&a

    Hi.
Until today i thought this thingy was the MAF, i now know where the MAF is so if that wasnt it then what is it and what does it do?

Also while im at it are these 1 hole and 2 screws purposely placed for a strut brace? If so are there meant to be just 3 holes or the screws there for some unkown reason? excuse my noobness.

For those that dont know what an IAT is, it's short for Intake Air Temperature. So just fancy word for an electronic temperature sensor.

Hole could be a speed hole :P Put those over your car and it goes faster!

lukeyVY, did you use "MAF Sensor Cleaner" or electrical contact cleaner? The stuff is the same, except for the price! The MAF sensor cleaner gets a new label on it and is like $10-20 more!

I would say 10hp is a MAXIMUM. If your MAF was extremly dirty! I know when i cleaned my MAF it was still fairly black though, looks like the last owner and mechanics never cleaned it at all. Got some of the black crap off with contact cleaner but not all. It's permanently black in spots. Didn't really get much power increase, i can attribute the more power to the PCM re-learning everything after i had the battery disconnected for more than 5 minutes while i did it.

As long as you let it dry before using it it should have done a little, but probably not 10hp worth, especially if it wasn't that dirty to begin with.

did you get a tune for it? i bought a bigger maf sensor, and after i put it on cruise control started surging all the time, fuel use went up and torque/power decreased. Changed the plugs not long after and they were bright white. Got rid of it and everything was fine again

hmm it does waste more fuel but ive never seen it surge, im considering swaping it back to stock, i would think its more suited for a v8 and if was given a good tune i reckon u would notice the difference
