hey,
so i'm kind of new to this. I've only had my car for like a month or so now, anyways my passenger side park light and fog lamp does not work. i check the fuses under the steering wheel and they looked alright, now i havnt taken the globes out yet to see if they have blown it just seems like it couldnt possibly be a coincidence. plus i dont really want to have to take off the bumper and shit if its unnecessary. i tryed to unscrew the back of the parker light and that shit must have been tighten by the hulk or sometihng that shit was impossible to loosen.
anyways has anyone else had this issue? would love to know how to fix this?
just putting it out there, taking the bumper off is really EASY, like i thought that at first when i had to take my head lamp off because i had a couple of parker led's stuck in it but after taking it off it was like wow now i can do it again and know what to do,
asuming you havnt taking it off before
maybe you just take the head lamp out and unplug it and then plug it back in and maybe try another globe if you have any others, just to test the plug
Sorry, I am new to this forum. I am just wondering if there is a thread about how to repair the front ash tray, or if there is no thread, if someone can tell me how to do it....Mine is open and won't close... Thanks![]()
Interior light not turning off in my vy series 2 wagon??
light stays on the whole time whilst driving, only stops when i lock the car door. inside switch doesnt turn it off. anyone got any ideas?
Have the wires in the light been modified to work LED footwell lights or similar?
Stupid question but is the push-button switch on? After I modified my lights for my LEDs I accidentally knocked the switch when I had the unit on the bench and when I hooked it up the light was constantly on. I removed the light module and took it back inside to check my wiring thinking I had soldered the wires incorrectly...turns out the button was pressed and yeh...felt pretty stupid when my girlfriend pressed it and it went off lol
i just had some work done at the panel beater and since then the light stays on. he had the roof lining out and put back in but now light stays on, took it back to him he couldnt work it out he sent me to an auto electrician and he couldnt work it out, his guess was something to do with the control module?? unhooked the battery terminals over night to try reset the problem but no success its driving me insane lol. no buttons inside turn it off only when you turn off car and lock the doors. if you dont lock the doors the light stays on...
I had the same problem with mine ages ago. It's obviously a short in the wires somewhere - I'm surprised the auto elec couldn't work it out.
Mine occured after installing a sound system and running the speaker wires through those rubber grommets to get from the B pillar into the door. I obviously damaged a wire, causing a short while trying to do that.
I ended up just pulling the globe out of the interior light - problem solved!
first time at this and cant find the thread? to who ever said that they had problems with a vy starting tell me about it tries to start when cold and chugs into life, had dieselmech port hedland charge a wounded leg to get a quote for a fuel pump and spark plugs, that paid for, plus an extra 300 not on previous quote to warranty, anyway car started exactly the same when I got it back took it back to be told that it was sounding like a chaff cutter anyway (which it wasnt)only just bought it and had it checked at time of purchase by mechanic in perth .Had another mechanic look at it in geraldton, whilst replacing front brakes he said prior to them the fuel pressure was 600? and way to high added a fuel filter to injectors had them cleaned and guess what the blasted thing still chugs into life, heres the rub I bought it because my vs commodore wouldnt start,ha ha on me if anyone can help me in this I would appreciate it as am off to yet another mechanic soon and would like to be able to pinpoint the problem, dieselmech said it may be a sensor?
Gday Guys.
Ive got a 2004 VYII S pack. Im sure this has been covered many times on here but the search function doesnt seem to be working from the iphone.... The problem i have is the fuel gauge. The car was parked for approx 3 days locked up with half a tank of fuel. Come back from a fishing trip, start the car up, and all the bloody chimes are going off! the display lit up and said "Very low Fuel" ... Ive been reading that other guys on here have had problems with the gauge getting stuck on full or not getting stuck half way. I can enter the Diagnostic mode through the menus on the cluster, but the only thing i can spot out of the ordinary is under the menu thats says
trouble Codes the first value on the 2nd line is "1".
Just wanting to know if a fix has been covered for this besides plugging a tec2 in to re-callibrate? what values should show up on the display under fuel sender voltage and resistance? Has holden offered a recall on this model?
Any advice muchly appreciated...
I need help with my 2003 Series II VY commodore. It started out a week ago with the "check engine" warning coming on randomly, so i pulled over turned the car off started her again and off we went no worries.... A few days later it decided it didnt want to start finally after 30mins it started. I took it to my mechanic who put a new ignition switch in it and away we went. 2 days later after a 10km drive i went to start it an it wouldn't go, it was turning over but not starting up, so off to the mechanic again an she now has a new fuel pump as the old one was shot!
So again 2 days later problem still not solved and now it stalls.... twice yesterday in the space of 2mins but started again straght away, today it didn't start again. So off to the mechanic again (via tow truck)!!
There's no warning that its going to stall it just stops the only light that comes on it the battrie light.
Everything i have read leans towards crank sensor??
Please help.
Hi there, Did your mechanic replace an ignition switch or an ignition module? Sounds like a crank sensor issue to me.... Some times you can tell by pouring water over the sensor when it plays up, Typically when they get hot they open circuit.
when its cranking and not starting, do you have injector pulse and spark?
Hi I'm new to this forum but would like to state some problems I have with my 2003 VY tray back
First problem I had was a split radiator that cost me $680 to repair.
Second problem is srs air bag fault coming up on dash upon start up - not sure what this is only started a week ago.
Third problem is my hand break i have had this repair many times but only lasts a week before it becomes non existent
Fourth problem i was driving along and went in a small pot hole and my spare tye wrench that holds the spare under my tray gave way sending my tyre flying off into the cars behind me lucky no one got hit! Very worrying i now keep my spare in my tray .
And today my car started stalling whilst I am driving quite dangerous as steering stiffens up breaks become hard ect. So it happen three times the third time it did not start up straight away and I noticed if I kept the revs up it stayed on but the moment I took my foot of the pedal it died I waited about 1 min the it started and everything was as per normal. I think I am going to get my car scanned.
Other then those problems the car is great!! It has done 215000kms!
Last problem with the car stalling sounds like it could be the Crank Angle Sensor.
Hey guys i just had extractors put on my acclaim v6 and i noticed while im cruising at 60 if i release the accelerator the revs drop under a 1000rrpm almost turning the car off but then they surge back up does anyone know what it could be? Does it just need a tune? Or is it something else thanks.
Hi guys im new in this forum, i have a problem with my 02 vy exec. my horn goes of at random when the car is parked in the driveway. does any1 have any suggestions what the problem might be.
^^ Common problem that's been covered many times. Do a search - I'm pretty sure the answer is even within this thread.
I fixed mine by firstly removing the unit I noticed that it worked when I held it sideways with the locking mechanism to the top. I held it horizontal and it would not close unless I pushed lightly on the small locking arm that pivots on the main body. I took the little arm off it's pivot on the body and cut a small piece of waxed paper, you know the backing off a sticker and made a small hole in it and put it over the arms pivot point before replacing the arm. It works fine now. If that doesn't work you can buy a whole new unit and face fairly cheaply from Holden.
Early production VY's had a metallic label stuck on the back of the airbag. As the car ages, the glue weakens and enables the label to come away from the airbag slightly, but still remain attached to it. The lable shorts out the horn contacts in the steering wheel.
The cure is to remove the airbag, pull off the sticker, then re-attach the airbag.
Make sure whoever does the job only tackles the job after disabling the airbag, by unhooking the earth terminal on the battery and removing the SRS fuse.
my vy exec has rear driverside leak in heavy rain anyone know what the problem is or a good place for it to be fixed?
Check door seal is positioned correctly. Apply a bit of silicon lube to the seal to make it supple so it seals better.
Try sitting inside while someone else hoses down the car to see if you can pinpoint the leak.
It could also be blocked drainage holes in the door - at the bottom of the door there are a series of slits that allow water to drain out from inside. If they get blocked with dirt the door can fill up and overflow into the cabin.
If it's none of that then check the rear window isn't leaking, or there isn't a rust hole letting water in (doubt it, VY's shouldn't have rust that badly yet!)
I know this is probably a stupid question but is a common problem with auto vy's, but how can I fix the leather were its come out on the facia? here's a pic:
