    Default Clarify the CALAIS

Hey my brother in law owns a VY Calais but it looks identical to the VZ with the sports bar and everything. ESP, active select, rims. Silver interior yet it has a Supercharged 3.8L instead of an Alloytec. What the hell is it?

I own an Commodore, therefore, I own the road

Most likely a VY with a VZ facelift - not hard to do at all.

Did the VY's have active select and ESP though? Maybe a VZ with an engine transplant...and original gearbox? Does that even work?
Are you sure about the engine?

Active select, is only available on the 5spd autos, i.e. VZ, WL onwards.....
& with ESP, im pretty sure its the same deal.

Then again the car could have had a front end conversion,

My guess would be a VZ calais with a heart transplant. Seems very weird though.

Could it be an alloytec with an aftermarket charger then?

    EDIT: Damn, too slow

It's quite bizzare. Maybe near the end of VY life stuff had changed? Like my commodore for example is one of the last vys and i have silver interior trim from the factory.

Just get pics, and we'll be able to tell
Include a pic of the build plates so we can see the date it was made.

Ok. I would have to go take one. I only realised this shit last night while we went for a quick cruise but I might see it again tonight. And under close examination and whilst not being drunk i probably would be able to tell myself. I usually see his pulsar. Only seen his Calais a few times.

The VZ calais would have the alloytec190 with those badges etc, so maybe that's what confused him if he doesn't know much about cars

As requested, put up pics of; Underbonnet Shot, Build Plate above passengers side headlight, Outside Shot of complete car from side etc.

If you want to know for sure and you must want to know as you have made a thread about it, then post up these pics and we will all set you straight with what it is.

few key diffs to tell the diff,

    like headlights, taillights, front bar.

the vy had silver inserts on the calais too.

after about june 05 onwards holden stopped putting the v6 badges on the side
Chev badges are an instant fail
