Default HELP lost all my forward gears any ideas?

wound my VY SS ute up today when pulling onto the highway, heading towards 110kmph when at the 2nd to 3rd gear change (AUTO) i lost all drive, pulled over trying the gearbox in 1, 2, 3 or D with no luck was unable to get it to move forward. but whats funny is i still have reverse. long story short i got it towed to my parents place for now (was up visiting) but they live in the sticks so its gonna cost a fortune to get taken all the way to a transmission specialist. closest is cannington i think. Anybody out there had any experience with this. my warranty is out so im not covered. which annoys me because when i bought this car from autoscene april last year they told me the gearbox was unbreakable, having been built by RVO in mebourne. Hate to tell ya pal i broke it, and they dun give a sh*t. anyways hoping anybody out there knows what the problem could be and if i can tackle the repair myself. cheers

after looking here and there ....... and destroying 5 trannies before in my old Caprice :

most likly it's the forward pistons cracking. This will cause a no forward movment

if you are going to rebuild it -at least if I was right- you may want to switch to steel pistons, they are less likly to break

    I can't tell you exactly cuz I don't live in AUS ...

but they are very common in tranny shops, ask around, not that expensive I guess

if you want an indestructible gearbox (and you have extra money to spend), I might be able to help you on that, there is a place in the US , they are great, and their work is awesome.

    pm if you want

cheers or your help mate, i managed to get my ute home this weekend and dropped the sump, definate mechanical failure- did the ring around and it seems from those in the know that ive gone and stuffed the forward inpu sprag and clucth pack.

so it'll be a complete rebuild, ive been quoted here in aus $2500-$3000AUD
for the rebuild my gearbox was originally quite strong, the rebuild should improve on that, at the moment my only constraint is budget as i'd only just gone and purchased an edelbrock victor jnr carby style intake manifold with a FAST 1300cfm throttle body, wilson inatke manifold etc etc so now im lacking in the pocket so it'll be atleast august till i can get it repaired.

this however has now made it possible for me to take the ute off the road and do a few things ive wanted to do for awhile, so it'll be up on block for the next few months and i plan on doing alot to it so standby for updates if your interested.

Hows saudi arabia- i was there briefly in 2006
