Does anyone have any ideas?
Gday all
I've got a crewman with ~60k on the clock and when driving regardless of fast or slow it makes a constant thudding noise (seems to be coming from the rear).. I'm pretty sure there is also a minor vibration that is coming through the floor.
I've tested another set of rims and the problem is still there.
I've read this:
Diff noise " cyclic knock " a Holden Service Issues
The thread describes it closely but its not between 40-70 but at any speed..
Sorry for another diff related question but does anyone have any other ideas?
Cheers in advance
Brian

Sounds like it could be the diff. Have you taken it to a mechanic yet?
The Blue One
Or the crappy handbrake?
I've taken it to a mechanic and he seems fairly clueless, so I figure his guess is as good as mine and will give it a whirl myself.
The handbrake is pretty shocking.. I've had to tighten the cable a fair bit just for it to lock, and even after 2 weeks its slipping... Could be the problem. What should I be looking at?
My old man was on about this the other day I think the crewman has a different diff to the sedan and short story is it doesn't cut it... If you are going to pay someone labour to look at it maybe just getting them to put in a newy is the best option.
For all 8 cylinders...
Could be a rooted rear CV.
Also, to those adjusting handbrakes, if you're having no joy inside the cabin it's time to whip off the rear discs and adjust it up at the starwheel.
