Could be the door switch man. This happened to my VY the door switch became faulty and when u open the drivers door with the engine off keys out of ignition etc sometimes it would not turn the lights and radio off causing the instrument lights etc to remain on after exited the car to cause a flat battery. Would be the first thing to check out.

if you turn the lights back on after you open the door and they go off. they won't turn off again i think even if you lock it.

I own an Commodore, therefore, I own the road

revv_head, they should if you set them back to Auto. Without keys in the ignition lights should go off if you switch from Auto to Off and back to Auto. Even if they were on.

Happened to me a few times, left the car, alarmed the car and the lights have been on. Only happened twice (once in an underground carpark and the other time in a big shed). Upon unlocking and locking again they switched off. More of a electrical gremlin i guess. As when you use your holden key to lock the vehicle the lights should switch off.

LOL, yea, lights off IS triggered only by drivers door or the alarm system. No passenger door will turn them off. As to why youd be going out the passenger door is beyond me, but good luck to you if that's how you get out of your car :P

yer they were set to it i think it may be some thing more the car is temperamental with it lights atm but meh nothing that turning the lights off with the switch wont fix. nothing else seems to bee faulty but except for me blowing the fuse again by shorting the internal lights LOL. (walk away)

as for the stock alarm well don't get me started on how easy it is to open up with out setting it off.

The vy's (and possibly other models) are fitted with a battery saver that shuts down anything that is left switched on after a period of time, stereo, interior lights, boot light and I would have assumed that it would work for the headlights too.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
