Yes, my kit will only operate the motors for a set time and then stop them. I think 10 seconds is all it should take to wind up windows. I'll have to time them on my vehicle and add a little threshold. The motors are designed to take a bit longer if people hold the buttons down. But dont want to cause any damage.
No, the BCM does not know when the windows are up. The motors have two wires going to them (current flow runs one way to go up and the other way to go down. As for how the BCM does it, the BCM doesn't actually really have much to do with the power windows, except allowing power to flow to the switches (through the power windows relay). The switches in the vehicle control the motors.
Whether i make a 2 or 4 window system really doesn't bother me i guess, i'll be doing the whole system. But for anything less than 30 it wouldn't be worth going professionally developed circuits done by a machine. So i will handle that, and i can make sure it's all working before it's sent out.
I will need to put in a relay to do this as there could be anything up to 15 amps going through the system. Most relays wont handle 15 amps though, so the big square ones you find in vehicles will probably be included. This will also mean they're readily available if you need to swap the relay in future.
And yes, i must admit, deadlock is definatly great
I will provide a rough figure on pricing within the next 2 days. Please only take it as a guide. It may rise or decrease depending on if i need more or less parts to get the job done.![]()
Will do, i'll actually fire off a PM when it's done to everyone interested, so if you dont want to check the topic it's all good. I've got a list of names. 6 so far.
In other news, went to my parts stockist for a few parts... all parts were stolen so they're writing them all off and should get the parts i'll need soon. Quite happy to hear about the potential order size too
I dont want to provide a rough figure, but price will hopefully drop a bit. I'm not going to sell these at a profit. They will be done at cost to me for each unit. Keeps costs down and people intersted in products i develop
Please note that this will be a specific product for Holden vehicles. It MAY work in other vehicles but is not guaranteed as they may use a different system for controlling direction of the motor.
Reading up about the VY in the manual i think it did say that power windows and radio will work for 1 hour after you turn your car off thats if you dont get out of the car that is. For my self i have my doors locking as soon as i come out of park and unlock in park VY Berlina. So i would like mine to go up only when i locked the doors with the remote or when the power out comes on if i happend of been sitting in the car for 1 hour or something like that. Just think about how good the auto locking is when it comes to car jacking as they cant open the door if its locked.

Yes, all power is cut to the power windows as soon as the vehicle is locked through the keys (i checked tonight). Which is not really a big deal, just means it will have to be connected to permanent power for the window motor's power connection. But my circuit will control when current flows to the motor.
You just reminded me of a good point, i do the same lock when not in Park mode. And the circuit i was designing would've been triggered by that, so i'll need to look at complicating the circuit a bit more. Thank god i didn't give a rough figure the other day when i calculated it, it would now be out.
So i think two conditions must be met:
1. Power is off to window motors through current setup
2. Locks have been activated (either single lock or deadlock as chosen by user)
That gets arond the auto lock when on, and when people are sitting in the vehicle and CAN use the power windows. But as soon as the user locks the vehicle they'll wind up on the deadlock (or single lock if set to that).
