I found something similar on EBay - not expensive as I recall. $150 ish?????
I have a VY 4 door with power windows and i want to have a lift kit installed to wind up the windows for me if i have them down when using my remote. I have been told that i need to change my alarm or get a add on alarm for about $500 so i can have the windows go up. I see jaycar have the kits for the windows just wanted to know if someone else has done there car with the same kind of kit. Also how hard is it to find the wire for the immobiliser as thats how i think its needs to be activated.

Dude... dont be lazy. Power windows is a luxury on its own and im so glad i have them. Plus they only lift one window at a time so you'll have to wait around the car till all of them are closed.
y does he have to wait?????
the reason im getting it put in is cause sometimes u have stupid mates who leave a window down and u forget about it
Can someone post a link to what exactly we're talking about? I think I've seen them before on ebay but can't remember.

I came over this last night on ebay just what im looking for just not the price. Most of the time only 1 window would be down the drivers side so be nice to just get out the car and hit the button.
HOLDEN COMMODORE VY-VZ CHEV-LUMINA WIND0W M0DULE - eBay, Other Car Parts, Accessories, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 14-Jul-09 21:00:00 AEST)
If you dont have any luck finding them gimme a yell, i'll be able to create a module to do all 4 windows at once (this is based on the VY's being the same or lesser than a VX II calais power window system).
Will be able to be hooked up to current alarm system or future ones. Closes all 4 windows at once. If there is interst in them i can design the system and have it shipped out within a few weeks. No where near the $150 price tag either.
EDIT: Whoops, i need to get out of the habbit of looking at that manual for the VY section. Looked at the VY system and it's definatly doable. All at once!
im keen, keep me posted alien![]()
I'm also very interested. My cousins astra has this feature from factory and I've been looking for a practical one for ages as all the ones I can find only work with the double lock rather than just standard one push lock.

OK, i'll keep a list of interested people, the more people interested the cheaper it can be.
Just a word of warning, this will have to be placed underneath the centre console near where the power window switches are. This is the optimum place to put it without having to grag cables all over the vehicle. You will also need to know how to join one wire to an existing wire (not too hard). Thats about all the technical skills you will need, i will take care of all the rest (developing). 7 wires will come from the circuit. There will only be two fairly long ones that will need to run towards the driver footwell area. Instructions will be provided on that, but just be aware.
I know there's not much room under there, but its the best place for it. I wont be able to start work on this until at least the weekend. Thats when my first day off is. That is if i'm not called into work.
^^^ I'd also be interested on this one alien, let us know how you go with it...
sounds easy mate, im still keen as![]()
sounds like a great idea, put me down for one too please. Also could you make up something that would turn the windows into auto up aswell as auto down? I currently have auto down on the two front windows (Calais) My wifes Focus has this feature and i find it very good, just lift the button and the window goes all the way up and then stops when closed.
Interested for sure, Let me know mate.![]()

Wow, didn't expect that many to already respond! :O
Well, as long as i'm not too smashed on the weekend or working (works bad atm since we're so understaffed [i could be needed 7 days a week for the next 3 weeks]) i'll start it on the weekend.
When it's all designed judging by the interest from just the VY owners i might try post in the VT-VX section as well to get more interest. The more people that want them the bigger the order for parts i need which makes the final product cheaper
Only part i need to think about is how to get the info from the vehicle that it's been locked. I'm thinking as soon as the door lock goes down it will do it's stuff. This will mean that you wont be able to wind down the windows if your in the car and have dropped all the locks. Or at worst wont be able to wind down the windows until 10 or so seconds have past since the lock was pushed down. This is ok for everyone? Or do some people like to close the locks and wind the windows down (seems kinda pointless to me)?
Maybe in the VZ section as well??
In the VY's the window switches loose power after the car is locked - with the key, like the illumination goes out on the window switches, and you cant use them anyway... untill you unlock the car again, I dont think that would be a problem? (having the doors locked and not being able to use them - as you cant from stock anyway)
Maybe a switch to 'over-ride' the set up but, like if I leave the dog in the car - its good to leave the windows down a little? but with this it will constantly wind them up when it gets locked? maybe a toggle switch mounted in the centre console of something?
Vehicles should have power to power windows for at least 25 seconds after key is removed from vehicle. You did just raise one more point that i just thought about when you loose power when you lock a vehicle (but i'll look into that there may be a timed circuit that stays on), but that should just add one more wire at most.
As for an over-ride setup, i wont provide this as part of the system, but i will provide instructions on which wire to place the switch to over ride it. This means that you'll be able to go and get the sort of switch you want for wherever you want it.
And i just forgot that this isn't the VZ section as well. Before i go posting in the VZ section i'll have to check a few things first as they are a different setup. But this may still work.
In some cars, the windows are wound up/down by holding the lock/unlock button down, rather than just pressing it momentarily, which allows standard operation.
Another option would be to close the windows when the deadlock is activated, so basically one press to lock the car (window stay down), two presses to deadlock + windows up.
All depends on what info you can get out of the BCM, but either of those options would be a winner in my book.

And even better what danja suggested, the second option would be preferred by me, (but like danja was saying) depending on the info you can get from the BCM...
sorry for being random.

Hit the star under this post if it was any help to you =D
It is easy to do the deadlock windows up only. I was actually looking into it. I lock my vehicle by deadlocking, wasn't too sure how many other people did too. I will design this one first, but if people want it to be activated when the buttons go down (if they dont deadlock) then i'll provide that functionality too hopefully it just means that one wire has to be connected to a different wire. Keeping the two the same.
Glad you liked the idea about the switch too
Wow, you could find something everyone else can't! :P Although i'm hoping my one will be cheaper than this. Wont be in as flashy a box though, and that one might be difficult to setup properly with commodores with stock alarms.
Not sure how these devices work totally, but if they dont stop current to the window motors it is possible to burn out the motors a lot quicker. My system will have protection against this just incase.
Sounds good so far. Personally I would prefer the option where the windows close when the car is locked, not necessarily dead locked as I never really dead lock the car.

DUK13Y, i've been looking into this as i know not everyone deadlocks their vehicle (not sure why though). Both options will be provided in the installation manual. Planning to make it so that the only thing different is which wire to connect it toWhich might make my life a little more difficult, but make you guy's lifes easier.
As to whoever want a 2 window module, like said in the PM to one member it can be done, will save probably all of $2-5 (if you have wind up rear windows). So if you want you can get that and save that money, or just not use two of the wires. Your choice i guess?
Other than that how it is going to work is all in my head and all works in theory![]()
Sweet as mate, so will your kit only power up the motors for a set time - enough for them to wind up completely, and not too long, to cause excess damage to the motors? (like you were saying before?)
Does the BCM know when the windows are 'up', in order to switch them off? or is it just on a timer?
It might be easier for you just to make the 4 window ones, if its only a $2-5 saving? would it make it simpler just making multiples of one setup, rather than two?
Around here, I opt for the extra security of the 'deadlock' option too, even if the druggo's smash the window, they still cant open the doors lol, - or try and 'pop' the latch, with a coat hanger etc...
