I just replaced the front rotors and pads on my vy senator signature with 4 piston calipers and drilled rotors and it seems to squeek alot every now and then, just wondering if this is normal for big brakes?? any suggestions
Did yo put anti squeal on the back of the pads?

doesnt sound like you have bedded them in, anti squeel isnt need if you bed them in correctly
How did you come up with this incorrect assumption??
Brake squeal is mostly caused by the brake pad vibrating within the caliper at a high frequency.
Anti-squeal glues the pads to the pistons and the caliper in some cases,so it doesn't vibrate.
Bedding in brakes correctly will not stop the pads from vibrating at all without anti-squeal adhesive applied .
Even with anti-squeal adhesive applied,we have still had problems from 4 piston calipers on Commodores.
"Green Stuff" brake pads seem to be a great way to prevent squeal on these brakes.
Most EBC's (and also TRW) come with a stuck on rubber shim on the pad as standard, and they're far and away the best way to suppress noise. If you're not into TRW or EBC's (generally the price versus performance ratio rules out EBC for most people) then you can actually buy the EBC stick on shim kits to apply to your own pads. We sell them for $16.50, and that will do an axle set of pads.

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

buy 'desqueek' from autobarn or supercheap. Stops the noise
Im just curious as to why you replaced 4 piston calipers with 4 piston calipers?
Anyways, as for the squealing, in some pads you will find this will die down, i trialled a set of ferodo's(rubbish pads) they squealed like a pig, even after bedding in, after 500 or so km's they come good.. Even bedding them in correctly they will squeal. That said, i have NEVER used any anti squeal on any of my cars. this also said, i have only ever used EBC Greenstuff or redstuff, so this could be why.

I did the same thing recently and replaced the Rotors with Bigger & Wider Curved Slotted style and I had to change out the Calipers to match the wider rotors.
I have a very annoying squeek that seams to come & go once the brakes have hit operating temp....any Ideas?
i didnt change the calipers, just the rotors and pads. I first tryed ferodo pads and they sqeeked like crazy, i pissed them off and got bendix ultimate pads with the plastic coating on the rear of the pads. They are not as bad as the ferodos but still enough to piss me off
Where do you buy them? im in sydney
I looked at these greenstuff pads on the net and they recomend to only use them on cars up to 750kg > eg kit cars. Should i be looking to get the red stuff pads? has anyone used these before?
lol, dude, every person i know runs greenstuff, they are perfect for street only applications. Not sure where you read they are only suitable for cars up to 750kg.
