Default Help fitting an external fuel tank!

    Hello,

Recently my car was written off, thanks to some moron in a land cruizer! He hit me right behind the drivers door smack bang on the fuel cap! Ruptured my fuel tank and fuel everywhere. Engine was still running after crash but i obviously turned it off cause of the fuel. Since then the car has been sitting in my yard under a heavy duty tarp as i plan on parting it out or transferring parts to another car etc. The car has not been started since the crash due to the fuel tank being busted and i want to just turn it over to make sure it still runs nicely, i know the electrics are all fine as i connected the battery up and tested everything yesterday.

My question is can i run (temporarily) a sub tank so as to turn the engine over? Eg a drunm connected to the fuel pump? its a VY II ute and any help or instructions would be most appreciated.

    Cheers

Done that many times with carbie cars, but generally their fuel pump wasn't in the tank and they also didn't have a fuel return. Could be done, just a bit of fiddling about.

Far out that would have been some hit to do that damage.

Just a thought, try and prize open the fuel tank cover from the tray area.
I think you should be able to take the fuel pump and pickups out from the top of the tank.
You could then stick it in a bucket of petrol to get it going.

You may need to make sure the pipes have not ruptured as they travel up the driver's side of the car and also travel back to the diff for the fuel filter.
