Does anyone have the name and phone number of someone in adelaide whos has Tech 2 besides the rip off holden dealers.I phoned today to enquire about having Police mode turned on and i was told it takes about 20 mins and will cost me $65 so if anyone knows if someone has acces to one that would be Fantastic.
Cheers Matt
i'd say that'll be as cheap as it gets, not many people have a $2,000+ diagnostic tool sitting in their shed. Even if they did they'd still charge you.
Why don't you ask them to do it next service?
are you joining the force ?
What does police mode do ?
No wonder you don't want to pay![]()

its not that i dont want to pay its that it only takes 20 to 30 mins and they want to charge so much,it is the holden dealer that services both my cars and we bought my wifes VE from new so you think they would give a discount or something !!!!!
It takes literally 3 minutes tops !!
Extractors, 100cpi ballistic cats, Sureflo 3.5" medium exhaust, DUS OTR, Oztrack Tune, Phreddy dash, stereo, black windows, Lovell springs, and a good alarm
Most Auto Electricians have a Tech2 Tool. Ring around and im sure you will find one Auto Leci that has one. I took my car to an auto electrician about a year ago and they used it to reprogram a new Key Remote for me.
well there you go i didnt think of a auto electrican to have a tech 2, i asked holden in Townsville to do it and they just laught at me and said they never heard of it before.

My best mate is an auto electrician. Their machines are not the Tech 2. The auto electricians machines can only read trouble codes, clear codes, program new keys, reset fuel trims and a couple of other diagnostic tools. They cannot do alot of the functions such as engaging 'police mode' etc. In saying that, there are machines out there that can do it such as what Phreddy (Greg) uses, but that is $5000+ and most auto electricians, like my mate, has a snap-on type unit which can't do the 'police mode' and many other features.
i'm pretty sure phreddy has a tech 2. send phreddy an email as he's planning a roadtrip to adelaide.
Chev badges are an instant fail
As I stated above, Phreddy wont have a 'Tech 2', but he does have a machine capable of doing more functions that what most auto electricians have. His machine is definetely capable of engaging 'police mode'.
I'm in Ipswich, qld went to my local Holden dealer an his like sorry have to have a vz dash and a nvm that allows the digital speedo an he'd never heard of tech 2
alot of aftermarket scan tools can turn on police mode nowadays
