hey guys and girls..
i did a search but couldnt find much info...
i was just woundering if anyone knows how to get the error codes when your car says check engine, and if anyone knows what they mean... if there is a list that would help..
any help would be great..
I don't believe you can without a tech 2 or some other similar diagnostic computer.
I took mine to a Holden dealer to find out what mine was. Has happened twice, one dealer in Rotorua didn't charge me, the other in Manukau charged $45 + GST.
cool, thanks for you help mate..
on my vt if u put the ends of a paperclip on to pins 5 and 6 ur engine light will flash u the codes as to where to find the code meanings not sure yet!!!
pins 5 6are numbered on top of the obd female plug under the dash just un screw it and u will see numbers!!
Only works up to VT series 1. Series 2 on requires a tech 2. Although you can diagnose the ABS and traction control like that on VT 2 onwards, but I think it's pins 5 and 12.
I've just found that holding Mode and Set when you start the engine shows some diagnostic data, temps, revs, speed, realtime fuel consumption, etc. On the last page there are some fault codes but don't know what they're for though.
Just like kerrin said, there is that fault code screen.
There is also the paper clip mode that works in the VY's too, i would have to check the documents to see which pins to bridge.
Or a Tech 2 [Tech 2 is the only thing that can remove SRS Errors and what not anyways].
You can't read PCM error codes, only ABS codes. That screen is just the dash and climate control diagnostics.
