Default How I improved my VY 3.8 6 Cylinder

I just recently purchsed a VY Sll Commodore Executive Sedan 3.8 with the Ecotec Engine and 4 speed Auto with only 50,000 kilometers on the clock. This car was owned by a mid aged women who spent $15,000 of accessories to make the car very sporty. The only problem was it was drive like an old lady and had no zest. The engine was very tight, and I don't think it every went passed 5,000 R/pm.

0-100 k/ph was wofull at snail pace only 10.8 seconds, this vehicle new did 10.2 seconds. So I stated to do a few small things that has turned this Holden Snail into a very nice drivable vehicle. The first thing we did was change the filter that allow good air flow, then we replace the spark plugs with Alterment Plus and Heavy duty 9mm leads.

The next step was we replaced the roller rockers with Yellow Terra new 1.95 rockers, and cut a 4" hole in the side of the filter box and run the pipping into a mesh grill where the spot light fitted. We then cut out the bottom of the black air intake to also allow cooler air into the enigine. To finish the job a good set of extractors were fitted with a dual 2 1/4 HSV muffler system was fitted. The car sounds nearl standard, until you give it a boot full. (A nice deep note) which doesn't attract police.

The car now does 0-100 in 7 seconds. The engine reves freely, and is a great highway vehicle. Of course we went from standard to 98 octain fuel. Presently the car only does 15.5 seconds down the quarter, with the modification the engine is running learn and require a chip alteration and tume ($1000) However next weeked we are place the auto gear box diff ration to a manual LSD 3.45 which should only alter the reveolution from 1800rpm @ 100k.ph to 2000 rpm, so the engine won't be reving it's head off. We anticipate a faster take off and expect the vehicle to run about low 14's.

My son has a VT SS Auto V8 and it's only doing 14.5 for the quarter. The object to doing this work is to have a quicker and more fuel efficant vehicle without doing interals such as a cam.

The Holden ECU whould be alright with just CAI, exhaust, and rockers, but tune would make it ideal. Who did your exhaust? I got mine done at Toy's, cheap enough bunch. Also who are going to do the tune?
