Default charged ecotec motor in a VY S manual?

Hi just asking this question for my bro.

He has a VY S manual. Just wondering if anyone has put in a supercharged engine onto the manual? other then loom what else would need to be changed? and would it go much better then the auto version?

    any comments appriciated!

I take it you would also need a VY S manual supercharged ecu. Or pay $$ for aftermarket computer

Yes it's been done plenty of times. T5, Getrag, R154, T56 have all been done. The auto ecu can be retained and some wiring mods have to be done to the reverse switch to keep the ecu happy. It will need the auto function disabled on the ecu.

Will it go better than an auto? Probably will be alot more fun to drive but may not be quicker.

a shift kitted auto will probably be faster than the manual.

the weakness is the t5, you are better going a t56 conversion.

also if your next question is 'why not just bolt on a charger'

go ahead and try... you will blow the ecotec up!

cheapest conversion would be a l67 full motor with loom and ecu, mod the ecu do the wiring mods for the reverse, and get the flywheel balanced.

Vy's don't have the T5, they have the Getrag box. It'd probably go quicker with a manual mainly due to different diff and gearbox ratios

This has been said many times but i have been talking to yella terra due to a failure in my motor (thats not supercharged) last week and they have said that with there low comp head gaskets you should be able to run 200 kw no worries and about the max is 220kw. They also went on to say the manual would be lots of fun.

I'm aware that the VT on don't have the T5 box. This is a conversion thread where the auto is been omitted in favour of a manual trans. The T5 is the choice of manual over the Getrag for a conversion due to better strength.

not trying to argue, but this fella's friend has a VY manual already, he's wanting to swap the l36 for the l67

/\/\/\ Lol, I see now. Gotta pay a little more attention.

Re the Getrag and L67 combo, a few have done it but I haven't heard of it been done behind a modified L67. Be good to see how a 200rwkw L67 goes with a Getrag and for how long the box lasts.

You will need to get the flywheel mirror balanced to the L67 flexplate as they run a different balance to the ecotec. The L67 has a different counterbalance shaft, harmonic balancer and flexplate so it's not a straight bolt in. That said, if the the mirror balancing is done it shouldn't be an issue

getrag is meant to be weaker than the t5.

also, yella terra are correct, however you should see how many ecotecs they blew up. they know its true limits
