they were caliper covers that made your brakes look like expensive brembo's but just a cheap plastic cover!

I remember these sorts of things, like the plate you bolt on behind the wheel to look like cross-drilled rotors, what a wank!

WTF why would anyone wanna Look like they have brakes that can stop the car...
I have the Harrop Premiums 343x32mm on the VYII R8 and it actually does stop well....... I wouldnt care if they looked crap (even though IMO the Harrops lok great)... why someone would want a car that had "Fake brakes" is beyond me, next he will bolt on an LS1 Turtle shell engine cover so it "looks" like it has a V8 too! Whacka

i think you all have it wrong im fairly certain he is after hub covers, not to make the brakes or rotor look like anything else. instead of painting the hub you slide these covers over the hub.

sounds possible, but in that case painting the hubs would be a better way to go, even if its a little more work.

in that case, you would be better off grabbing a can of high temperature engine enamel from your local auto shop and spray painting the hubs and calipers yourself. A quick scrub with a wire brush and/or some coarse sandpaper followed by a wash with degreaser will adequately prepare the calipers and hubs for painting. You can then mask off the panels around the wheel with newspaper to prevent any overspray, and go nuts. No need to worry too much about overspray on the rotor surfaces as it will wear off almost immediately after a quick drive. (Ideally wait until the paint is dry first!)

My local Bob Jane painted my hubs and calipers black for me when I had some new wheels fitted over the weekend.Very impressed with their service the best customer service experience I have had in a long long time.

Check out the pinting calipers thread, if you want them to look neat and not stand out go for silver or black.
