hey just wondering where to go and get my rear tail lights tinted in Adelaide and how much should it cost??
cheers
can of nightshade (autobarn $25), some tape, newspaper, time and patients n ur done...
check this thread, same concept, different car How to tint your tail lights?
i work at auto one.. and i think with nightshades u can get defected.. probs couldnt be too much of a problem if u just do a light coat. cheers
I Tinted my Tail lights on my old VS Calais. Unfortunatly I had a Undercover Police Officer pull me up and give me a Canary (Defect Notice) and also picked a heap of other things at the same time. Ended up costing me over $1000 for a Roadworthy.
I wish I had never Tinted my tail lights and would not recommend it. (COP BAIT).
Oh dont do it dude, i nearly ran up a blokes ass the other night cause his stupid tail lights were so friggin dark i didnt see them. Wanky mod i reckon.
a slight shade is nice....be sure not to shade the reverse lights, put tape over before spraying
buy 2 black stockings and put them over ur tail lights to see what the tint will look like. I ended up keeping mine on because if i get busted for them all i have to do is rip them off.
i used a cheap can of matt black spray paint took tail lights of car and gave 3 light coats cops not say a word and it looks nice
I did the rears of my Brocky VC years ago, and i got canaried . I tried using the example of the newer cars having slightly tinted rears, and i also showed them the new globes i ut in that replaced the older globes, as the new ones were a higher wattage, and even thou you could clearly see them without any problems, just the fact that my model car didn't come out with tinted rears, i wasn't allowed to have them like that.
Just be careful if tinting your lights. if you do, upgrade to a more powerful globe aswell.
Follow Your Dreams......RIP Brocky 1945 - 2006......May God Rest Your Soul
itook mine out and jus plastic primed them and the done a couple of coats mine are heaps dark u can still see them when there on tho
have a paint shop mix some black with clear and spray it on, that way you still the gloss look, if you come out to kmart anzac one night i'll show you what i mean
Chev badges are an instant fail
Cheer guys. Thanks for the advice. I think i might just stay clear of it and buy the altezza lights.
doesnt matter what you do to your lights, just must be clearly visible from 200m i think it is.
Tinting of the tail lights is illegal, but if u tint lightly and the break lights can be seen from 200m in daylight then you shouldnt have a problem with popo. also the reflector should remain untinted cos it reduces light reflection dramaticly. here is a section from a list of things that should be checked for a road worthey test.
7.1 Check lights and reflectors
Reasons for rejection
1. Compulsory reflectors are damaged, obscured, deteriorated or are not fitted;
2.Any of the following lights are inoperative, obscured, deteriorated insecure or not fitted where required, or are an incorrect colour:
headlight (high/low beam) (white);
front park or side lights (white);
tail lights (red);
brake lights (red);
reversing lights (where fitted);
turn signal indicator lights (yellow);
clearance/end outline marker lights (white/yellow to front, red to rear);
number plate light (white);
side marker lights (yellow);
compulsory tell-tale lights.
1. Any rear light other than a reversing light is installed or damaged to the extent that white light shows to the front or rear of the vehicle;
2. Any amber clearance light or front turn signal is damaged so that it shows white light (except vehicles prior 7/73);
3. The number plate light is not directing light onto the surface of the rear number plate;
4. Any optional light or reflector interferes with the effective operation of any compulsory light or reflector;
5. Any light has a tinted cover over it that affects its intended operation;
6. There is any other type of opaque cover over a headlight which cannot be readily removed;
7. Any light does not comply with the requirements as specified in the Federal Office of Road Safety Vehicle Standards Bulletin No.9.
That being said, i have had my tail lights tinted for a year now, i drive around 30 or so hours a week for work and havnt had a problem yet.
i tinted my tail lights on my ute. all i tinted was the clear part in the middle of the light (reverse & indicators) and they still light up perfectly, no dullness in them at all.
