Does anyone know Holden's thinking when released the series 2 VY? I mean i am currently looking to put foglights on my s2 s pack, and being a Series2, i need to replace the fog light switch and install the wiring, which i believe are both on the Series 1 VY?
Seems silly..
to my knowledge all of the non optioned fog cars need to put in the switch etc. not just yours.
they did nothing but a slight seat upgrade, cluster backing, badge, shitty orange on the head lights, and a few other things like that.
The fog light wiring should be there shouldn't it?Major changes introduced with the Series II include: A new high-output GEN III 5.7 litre V8 engine, producing peak power of 245kW @ 5,600rpm, is now specified on Commodore SS sedan, SS Ute, and SV8. Holden Calais and Berlina models benefit from a GEN III V8 power boost to 235kW @ 5,200rpm. ECOTEC V6, Supercharged V6 and GEN III V8 powerplants are engineered to meet strict new emission level requirements. 245kW V8s gain additional frontal rigidity from a strut brace mounted to the strut towers and spanning the engine bay.
All models feature fresh, individual interior trim treatments. Convenience and comfort features such as cruise control, front power windows and adjustable front seat lumbar support are now standard across the range, and a sunglasses holder and rear reading lamps are now standard fitment on all sedans and wagons.
Calais and Acclaim models receive the added safety benefit of active head restraints, all models are equipped with audible and visual driver's seatbelt warning, and steering column modifications across the new range assist in reducing the risk of occupant injury in a frontal crash.
Also available for the first time, a tailored, factory fitted sunroof is optional on all sedans. All wagons are fitted with aircraft-style cargo rails in the rear compartment for extra tie-down security and flexibility, and load-covering retracting roller blinds are standard fitment. Wagons have new jewelled tail lamps with a circular design theme.
The Calais now takes on a more European-accented sports persona. Stand-out styling accents include a bolder front facia with sports bar grille and hexagonal mesh inserts, black bezel headlamps, lower ride height, SS-style side skirts, 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, rear facia skirts and unique tail lamps. Interiors are highlighted by all-black headliner and pillar trim, sports profile steering wheel, unique facia and colour-keyed console surround and suede-finish soft fabric trim. Extra luxury touches include Caprice-style driver's seat memory settings and heated 'memory' exterior mirrors. When reverse gear is selected, the passenger-side mirror dips to show low level hazards.
Berlina models are distinguished by twin fog lamps, black lower facia mouldings and nine-spoke alloy wheels. More luxurious interior finishes include new monotone seat trim in soft velour, leather-wrapped steering wheel, handbrake and auto shifter and satin chrome highlights.
The S and SV8 now have body-coloured grille and rear licence plate surrounds and spoiler-mounted stop lamps with clear lens. Both feature new alloy wheels - five-spoke on the S, which receives larger 17-inch wheels, and dual five-spoke on the SV8 - are matched to new-specification tyres, tuned for improved handling and firmer, quieter ride characteristics. Body coloured exterior mirrors and amber indicator lenses also set the
SV8 apart.
i was told that because it was a S2 there is no wiring for the fog lights.... and hence would need to be wired up...
thanks for the feedback though guys...
From wikipedia:
"The VY Series II update added cruise control, front power windows variable front seat lumbar support, and revised interior trims. A 245 kW V8 was introduced to sports variants and a sportier repositioning of the Calais model. This repositioning included a subtle body kit, the option of a 235 kW V8 in place of the previous 225 kW and a firmer suspension tune (known as FE 1.5) that was not as stiff as the FE2 suspension on sports variants."
nah all the stuff is the same (interior wise) other than patterns on the seats.
the dash is still pov pack, i think VZ was the darker dash pad
The series 2 needs the wiring installed because the series 2 ss had a option for leather and if you took it you got or could get climate control, so holden based the series 2 ss wiring off a berlina or alike making the s wiring closer to an exec so holden used the exec wiring in th s
In short holden would have saved 50cents by basing the s off the exec
i'd be taking a look under your front bumper before taking that advice as gospel - mine's a series 2 S and i've got the fog light wiring dangling up front and behind the switch
Yes, 0081 is quite right. Holden decided to save some money by removing the fog lights loom which was there in the VY S1. With the VY S1 and it was a straight forward plug and play with addition of fog lights, relay and switch upgrade. Sorry VYS2 do not have this option.
Yes i read that somewhere and it just seemed rather odd..
It's interesting that they saw fit to remove a few wires for the Series 2's, then apparently re-installed them on VZ's. My son's VZ Acclaim had the wiring in behind the front bumper. As the Acclaim was Executive based, I assume the wiring would have been the same as an Exec in the VZ.
My Storm SeriesII ute has genuine SS foglights fitted and the switch is there.
Only problem is that in the fuse box they haven't supplied the little metal clip that the foglight fuse would clip into. Am i able to buy this clip or do they have to fit a whole new fuse panel? Thanks.
