    Default Sway Bar

    I have a crewman VY2, I have noticed that it does not have a sway bar across the struts, did they not fit them on crewmans or is mine missing?
    The ID Plate under the bonnet also just says VY not VY2 so maybe it is not a Mark2? How can I tell?

    I assume you are talking about the strut brace across the top of the suspension towers under the bonnet? They were only standard on SS's I think - all VY's had the bolts installed ready for the brace, but you have to buy and install it yourself.

    well i guess they don't come on the SS crewmans then. I think they're only $55 from holden if you're interested. I've got a whiteline adjustable strut brace in the ute - it looks shiny and depending on who you listen to it's either useless or SUPER AWESOME for handling.

    Have you got 2 little threaded studs sticking out of the strut tower next to the strut top mount? If so it's a VY2 and these are the mount points for the Holden VY2 strut brace which as the other guy said is around $55 from the dealers. Slide it on, do up the 4 nuts and you're away

    Weren't those bolts also fitted to Series 1 VY's and maybe even earlier models? I didn't think they were only introduced with Series 2's.

    These are the bolts you need to look for....see pic below. If you do have the bolts already on the strut tower, then you just need to buy the strut brace from Holden with the 4 nuts and install it in about 2 mins.

    As said already, strut brace is relatively cheap. Retail price from my Holden dealer is $59 for brace and $5.50 for 4 nuts. If you can get trade price like me, then its cheaper again

    Part Numbers are;
    Strut Brace: 92112662
    Nuts: 11086952

    OP, Do not care if it doesn't have them, you DO NOT need them. A strut brace is about as useful tits on a bull.

    Perhaps useful for a car that sees the track regularly, less so for a street car.

    Hate bringing up old arguments, but the setups holden use etc do not even do anything on a track. In fact 2 point braces have been proven to cause more damage due to incorrect force on strut towers. Only way to use them is a 3 point like most race cars use.

    Oh if looks are anything to go by the Holden one has about as much structural integrity as a coathanger. I was talking more about the theory behind strut braces - in theory they only provide significant benefit at very high and repeated cornering loads.

    Yours is a HSV though isn't it? Exec/Acclaim/Berlina/Calais/S-pack VY1 don't have them. I'm assuming SS Sedan & HSV do.
