Hey buddy yea sure things, if you follow those steps here:

Guide to removing vy/vz steering wheel

As long as you remove the negative off your battery ( I wrapped mine in a plastic bag for extra safety ) and while you remove the bag be gentle dont rush or tug at it (Gentle is key) there is not a lot that can go wrong. Also once you have the bag disconnected (Yellow Plug ) Place it outside face up away from everything again just a safety thing.

As for the clock spring I did break mine (OOPS!) but i got a new one and was fine. The main thing is that when you go to start this make sure you wheels are perfectly straight! Once the wheels is off dont move anything! simply reconnect plugs and bolt the wheel back on making sure the clock spring behind isnt crushed and sitting correctly. Do the bolt up firmly but not to dead tight! I did this and it became stiff... could have been my spring but! as i said just dont move the clock spring or slip ring once you remove the old wheel and you should not have any problems. Worse case you have to buy a new slip ring which is like $50 (I have one sitting here if you need it) Main thing is dont force anything and be patient!

    Hope that helps!

read the guide, helped me. you need a 30mm socket for the securing bolt. disconnect the battery. leave it for 15mins before doing the work.

DO NOT RECONNECT THE BATTERY UNTIL ALL THE WIRES ARE RECONNECTED ON THE STEERING WHEEL.

you'll need a flat blade screwdriver to remove the horn pad. it's tricky but you'll get it. and the airbag wire. the yellow one. lifts off, it doesn't slide off like it looks like.

You'll be fine mate. I put the guild up because i felt that most people would be able to do it hassle free and that's pretty much what has happened. Just follow the instructions and you'll have your wheel off in no time.

binghy how did you go? not really that hard aye and as stated above if you have the correct tools sooo easy!

As for getting it done for free??? Holden are a mob of rip offs and would of charged me like $100 so i got my mechanic who services my car with a scan tool to do it quickly.

Thats all very well for someone who is confident to work with the airbag, the 15 min rule is simply an extra safety thing so people can feel more comfortable. Ofcourse not everyone does it i personally disconnect the negative and pump the brake till they go hard then work away.

BTW OP how did you get on with the new wheel?
