Pronounced rattling noise from the engine when cold, reduces as temp comes up, also a constant ticking sound at all temps, VY ecotec in a series 1 Acclaim. Any ideas anyone?
Lifter or namely hydraulic adjuster thingy gone to heaven.
Cheers,
Dave
Injectors can also get a bit "ticky"

You will soon localise the rattles.
The same test can be done with the injectors - just don't get near the electrical terminals. You will soon discover the sort of noise that each item makes and be able to identify which one is noisier than the rest.
Ticky injectors are no big deal if the engine is running well.
yeh like mentioned above ticky injectors no big deal, sounds like lifters or maybe a dry/damaged rocker and as the oil and temp comes up it fades a little.
