Hey guys. I own a 02 vy exect, and want to get that deep rumble from the exhaust. I havnt shopped around or asked anyone, because I don't want to go in knowing nothing, and they [muffler specialists] rip me off. So what am I looking for? And can I get that sound from an exhaust into a stock v6? Am I looking at a tip? Or replacing anything more? Thanks guys.
leave it stock, its never gonna rumble just sound like shit
^^Agreed.
V6 don't rumble, they fart and drone.
get a 2.5 redback exhuast mate, they sound good on the eco's
too right, redback have definately worked out how to make the ecotec sound good. Lukey does a good setup as well.
I have a custom built lukey system on my ecotec v6, yeah it drones abit but it sounds fat!
until i get that V8!
u wont get it to rumble and growl like a v8. but get a catback system and it will make a deep buzzing note.
Take out your rear muffler. Cheap and gets noise results. Get a V8 if you want rumble.
i have to agree with 0081 - automatic v6's tend to just drooooooooooooooooooooooooooone past my house every day like a big blowfly
I wouldn't bother. If anything goes wrong Holden dealers won't touch your car if it's been modified.
the only way you will ever get a V6 to put out a note worth listening to is by adding an extra 2 cylinders. Sorry peoples with a V6 and an after market exhaust but for sound s purposes they are the biggest waste of time and money.
But I am quite happy to be proven wrong.
just get a V8=D
manual 6's defently sound better then the autos, anyone who says no probley has an auto.
My bro has a VY S Manual red back 2.5 exhaust, pacemakers and high flow cat, best sounding 6 you will hear, i have a VZ SV6 manual still doesnt compare though, have a single 2.5 atm and sounds shit but changing to a duel tomorrow so we will see how it goes.
It depends on the amount of money you want to spend, I guess. Replace the entire system (Extractors, Hi-Flow Cat, probably single 2.25" or 2.5" throughout) and you may get a relatively good note out of it, but you won't get a 'rumble', just a lot of 'noise'.
I've heard quite a few respectable V6 notes, from both Manuals and Automatics (yes, Automatics introduce drone easier), but they weren't loud, just noticeable and respectable, try and go loud and you'll have it popping and cracking like a ricer on 4" pipes.
