hey i was jw if anyone could help me decide on some tires. i have a vy s and just bought some 19" vy signatures for it im planning on lowering it some time soon what tires would be good for these rims?? i want it too nice a low but dont want the tirs to rub??? any help would be good?
235/35/19 that is the tyre size you need to go let me know if you need a price!
yeah mate how much they set you back?
for 4 they could set u back around 1000 bux for a cheaper set. depends what brand and quality u want. why not call up tyre joints?
235/35's wear out really fast on 19x8's - it stretches them too much. Use 245/35
i have a set of 19" dunno what brand chromeies on it now and they have 235s on them my car isnt lowwered but there is a lip on the inside of the guards and i recon if i lowwer it the lip will scrape on the out side face of the tire?
if you go realy low 245 will rub and they will set you back 700 plus delivery
i know my 245's rub a bit when i have 2 bikes in the back and a bit of gear (~300kg), but the 235's looked like they were'nt seated on the rim right - that and they wore out really quick. Whenever i get the chance i'll be having my rear guards rolled to fix all this up.
mines a vy s pak im pritty confused now on tyres lol do the utes have a little lip on the rear guards?
yeah they do, it's about 40mm in width. Up the front there's nothing to worry about though.
yeah im just worried about the back.... the wheels i got on it now are 19" with 235s and it aint llowwered but it looks like if i did lowwer it tht lip would hit the tyre?
if you don't put a camber kit in the wheels won't rub, the left one goes / and the right one goes \.
I hope that makes sense...
yeah it makes sense but i was gunnna put a camber kit in? to stop me tires wearing out
it doesnt matter. in 2 months you will hit a pot hole and your rim will be screwed anyway.
why the hell would tht happen?
Because the tyre sidewall isn't big enough to prevent a large pothole buckling the wheel. Unlikely, but it does happen. To provide more protection you can pump up your tyres a bit more (40psi) but then the contact patch with the road is smaller and you may experience uneven tyre wear. Basically anything larger then 18" on a VY isn't practical unless you run oversized tyres, which depending on your state laws could be illegal and it also means you can't lower your car.
And before anyone says "But HSVs come with 19" wheels", it's for looks. There's a reason the V8 supercars run 17" wheels and it's not so they don't buckle their wheels on pot holes.
Any tyre smaller then 40 series is asking for pothole damage IMO![]()

i drive on gravel country roads most days - i practically take my ute four wheel driving - and i'm yet to see a pot hole damage my rims.
Admittedly you are safer with 18's as you say, but like i said before rims of today aren't exactly made of plastic, and will take a bit of abuse.
245/35/19 is your answer.
Do not get 235's, dangerous and not road worthy. (Because of the streching of tyre)
