    Default Petrol Door - Snappo!

Filled up tonight, to my horror the petrol door that covers the cap had fallen off, broken cleanly where the hinge attached at the door, so the hinge itself is still attached to the car.

Question is that it feels plastic, will plastic adhesive such as araldite fix this or am I stuck to source a new door, have it painted and fitted? Had a hunt around couldnt find an answer to my question, apologies if it is a repeat.

VY Series 1 Hothouse S pac, though that shouldn't make a difference of course. Cheers guys.

You could always use araldite to glue on your own brackets.

if not you could find a green one, or I have a white VT one spare that ill give up for not much

    Get some Q-Bond adhesive:

    Q-Bond Adhesives | Blackwoods

Places like REPCO also sell it,it is really handy stuff and can be used to fix lots of things.

It will be stronger than new.

Why not just buy a new assembly from Holden? You can get pre mixed spray cans the same colour as your car easily

I can think of 2 reasons, first up the paint won't match very good (Especially being Hothouse Green)and secondly it won't be as strong as a properly repaired one.

When to repair it with the Q-Bond you have a much larger surface area where the join is.
It's sort of like putting gussets on the side of the original plastic that joins at 90 degrees to the fuel flap. There's not much holding a new one on when you look at it.
One of our customers broke off 3 in as many months,I Q-Bonded the last one that broke and he hasn't had a problem since.

had the same thing happen to me. you'd think they'd make them a little more durable! I replaced mine completely and sprayed it myself. looks a tiny bit diff to body color but its not that noticeable. all up probably cost me $80. (paint from autobarn not from holden)
