    Default ls2 heads on an ls1

    Hi peeps have got a vy ss ls1 with cylinder head casting number 241 but have been told that the ls2 heads with casting number 243 are better is this true an will they be just a straight bolt on




    (ohh and i can get the ls2 heads for free so wanna no if there will be any gain in performace)

    LS2 heads are definitely better then LS1 heads
    if you can get them it would be a good upgrade
    yes they will bolt straight on
    but you will need
    new head gaskets,head bolts and lifters

    But can i still use my ls1 manifold for the moment
    as i plan to turbo at a later date and would like to change manifold then

    yes you can use the standard LS1/LS6 manifold

    cool thnx for reply will i get any gain from fitting these heads and why do i need new lifters

    they have better ports and are 64cc chambers

    LS2's use LS6 heads. Same ports, slightly better valves, high CR. If you are going to swap heads there are far better choices. The LS6 might give you 10-15hp. Not worth it IMO

    yes they are the same
    but that has noting to do with his original Q
    of coarse there is better options out there
    but he is getting them for free

    Well the ls2 heads will raise your compression ratio and you say you're planning on going down the turbo route.. So in saying that, you might as well sell them and put that money towards your turbo kit.. Thats what I would do if I were you..
