Default Brake pads for slotted rotors

Hi all i just purchased a full set of RDA slotted rotors and i was wondering what sort of pads are the best to use I was going to run Bendix Ultimate but someone told me they would chew the rotors so i was going to use standard bendix can any shed some light on what is the best pad just for street use.
    Cheers Matt

Have a word to Greg from GSL RallySport who is a sponsor here, I had QFM HPX I believe they were on the VY and that impressed I've gone with them again on the VE.

Bendix IMHO are way over rated and generates too much brake dust.

My vr has dba slotted rotors and qfm super x pads on vt/x/y rotors and have been using them for 4 years on the same pad and the disc surface isnt flat anymore and has radial small grooves on the surface but the brakes are good and the pedal is still good...so up to a point it doesnt matter as long as it isnt excessive for pads to chew the disc a bit...pad material nowdays have a lot of steel in them so they are closer to the material they are running against so they have to chew a bit. My vz uses standard discs and also super x pads and it dusts definately more than the vr but the vz is a wagon and its heavier.
Someone told me too the black shit you see on your wheels that you think is the pad material is the actual disc material wearing off..so more dust =more disc wear.....my vr has minimal dusting of the wheels....also bendix ultimates are known for a lot of dust and the rumor was they were harsh on rotors...not sure if they have fixed it.
This is my vr that I rebuilt ....CLICK HERE to see my vr on Cardomain ......if you want to check it out......Anyway make sure you rubbish a ford daily ....I am a 4DH8RZ Club lifetime member .................new members joining everyday

I beg to differ. i ran bendix general ct in my vt and also run them on my vy with slotted rotors and have no brake dust. run fine on the rotors as well.

Bendix Ultimate do generate WAY too much dust for their performance. The GCTs are a good all round street pad, and we actually used to supply them as a trade servicing pad to our local SAAB specialist workshop for a long time. Nothing in the way of performance by any stretch of the imagination, and against other pads, ridiculously overpriced, even given their high quality level.

Back to the original question, if you're after a Bendix Ultimate type performance pad, as Darren said (as has personally used), the HPX is an equivalent pad performance wise, but with very low dust and rotor wear. Also the HPX comes standard as a full face 'police spec' pad, whereas the Ultimate does not. You can buy the Ultimate as a Police spec pad (DB1344), but the price is WELL over $100 last time we checked... The HPX by comparison is $79 per axle set.

Just for reference, non police spec pads look like this:

whilst 'police spec' pads look like this:

Where the blue area is the pad material.

Lets face it at the end of the brake dust whilst a pain isn't a huge issue when comparing shopping power.

Those who upgrade rotors and pads are generally after more braking power first of all and dust coming was down the list in priorities.

Correct me if I'm wrong but General CT aren't even in the same league as HPX or Ultimates for that matter so you can't really compare them.

What temp do the General CT begin to fade? My guess much much sooner than HPX would, they to me seem to have more bite the hotter they get, for arguments sake I am yet to have any signs of brake fade.

    In terms of temp handling
    HPX=Ultimate - The 550 degree mark.
Super X=GCT- Somewhere round the 450 mark...

QFM A1RM are ALOT higher (780) but in 99% of standard road car, the fluid will boil long before you cook the pads. Unless you're prepared to change fluid to something high temp, HPX is more than enough for most street driven cars.
