    Default Thermo Fan Stays On?

Since this afternoon, The thermo fan in my VY has stayed on and not turned off, even with the ignition off and after leaving it for a couple hours. The car is definitely not hot, even wet the motor down. Took the relay out and put it back in (3 times), the thermo fan is off now. Fan Relay 1 is a Tyco IN0314, and Fan Relay 2 is a Tyco IN0313. Looks like the Relay 1 has been replaced, shouldn't the two relays have the same code? Since every other relay is a 313.

And when you replace the affected relay you will find that it will run as normal.

Nope as the low fan relay is the master off control for both fans..

I'll try and explain (as quoted else where)

The fan high speed relay is activated through the PCM, by data from the ECT sensor. The high speed fan will turn on via the relay if only the low speed fan is on for 2 seconds.

So assuming they are meant to be two different types of relays

They are easy to tell apart , one relay has 5 lugs on it , the other one has 4 lugs. Its a big trap because they often get mixed up . They can be interchanged in the relay holder so be careful , make sure the 5 lug one goes into the holder with wires underneath going to the 5 lugs....if you put a 4 lug one in the 5 lug holder obviously the 5th lug wont work. The 5 lug relays are prone to burning out which causes the fan to run continuously, make sure you replace the relay with a 5 lug relay , not a 4 lug relay.....(people often go & buy a replacement which isnt a 5 lug one-easy to mix them up as the only difference is the extra lug on them , other than that they look identical.)

Hence I supplied a picture and suggested to replace as anyone with at least a half a chromosome could work it out
