    Default My daughters custom hoodlining

My youngest daughter recently purchased a 2003 VY s2 sedan . The hoodlining was a bit filthy and she wanted some thing differant and been a proud supporter of our flag this is what we came up with.We had to move the interior light , so we got a black light / sunglass holder of ebay rewired and mounted it up front. We also covered all the plastic covers in black marine vinyl and painted what we couldn't trim. The seats and door inserts will be the next project. Thanks to this forum for the how to on the rewiring.

    Isn't it a rooflining?

    Thanks
Roof lining / hood lining depends where you're from and who taught you the trade.
Materials and the new light cost about $150 plus my time.

Looks good, I would do the visors in the same blue though, just to they blend in. Maybe do the glasses holder as well.

how did you get the material to mould in with the cardboard so well, that looks really mint.

Thats a serious question by the way, any chance you can quickly run over the process?

    Contact Glue
First remove cardboard shell from your car and clean of all the old material and foam. The material you need to use for the best result has a thin layer of foam laminated to it, you can buy it this way from trim shops or motor trimmers suppliers. You could also use a material called meltrim or trunk liner it does not look as good as velour but is a lot easier to apply. The best glue is a sprayable grade high heat resistant contact applied with a spray gun.You could also use the aerosol cans but I have not used these for rooflinings before so I'm nt sure how long it would last. Glue is applied to cardboard & material, letglue tack of (dry) a bit then lay material on cardboard and smooth from the center out to the sides. Use your finger to press the material into all the indents where visers and grab handles go .Depending on your skill level you might need to do this part with care to avoid wrinkles .Cut out all your holes and reinstall.
This is a basic outline so just take your time for a good job.
    Hope this helps

So what is so wrong with being patriotic? Go to the midwest of USA, every house has an American flag on the front lawn and a General Lee in the driveway...lol....

I'm not against a show of patriotism if it is done in a non "in your face" way, but some people do it to incite a response.
