Default ERROR MESSAGE: U1000 - class 2 communication malfunction (brake)

    Hi guys.
I was at the tuners the other day having a little work done and he found the U1000(brake) error message in the history. But we are not sure what caused it. The brakes are fine, the ABS and Traction are working without fault and I have not had any lights out.

Iv been reading around and doing research, but i just cant find all that much information about it, certainly not enough to be able to make a diagnosis.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Sometimes these messages pop up because of a minor malfunction which can rectify itself when the ignition is turned off. The fault doesn't actually exist but for some reason, the computers generate them and they are stored in the history until cleared. Perhaps minor power spikes or a slight malfunction of a switch or relay?

My Airbag fault light recently did that. When it was checked, there was no fault but the error message remained until it was cleared.

You said that the error was only detected during work being carried out, not as a result of a message appearing on your instrument panel. If it had never appeared as a visible warning before, it can't have been much of a problem to cause the error message in the first place, but these things are always best to have checked anyway and cleared out of the memory.
