can anyone recomend some 235/40 x 18 tyre to suit avy ute with breaking the bank.i hear the maxxis mav1 are supposed to be good.
Yeah i went with the maxxis because they're a bit cheaper... They seem ok. Mind you, i went from 205s to 235's so even the worst tires ever would seem to handle well for me.
their must be more than one person who drives a commodore with round black rubber things between their arse & the bitumen !!
Don't get the Neuton ones I have. Thats about all I can contribute.
Over 40,000k's later and the rears would still have close to 50% left, but grip in the wet disappeared about 20,000k's ago

So guess what Philthy is doing to justify buying new tires soon...![]()
i would happily recomend the Maxxis MAV1. I am running them on the wagon and they provide a good balance between grip and tyre wear. Mine are nearly 3 years old now and still have about 40% tread on the rears. Obviously I dont do burnouts but with over 300rwhp they get some pretty tough launches and hold up well.
thanks guys.went with the MAXXIS MA-V1.pays to shop around.got my rims for $240each compared to $290 each & got the tyres for $180 each compared to $240each.saved about $430.
I had Maxxis on my ute they are a very noisy tyre
I have the Maxxis MAV-1 in 235/40R18 but they only have about 1000km on them so far - in the short time I have had them they seem to behave fairly well.
Running the Kuhmo Ecsta's atm had alot of people with good recomendations for them.
Only done few hundred kays so cant really give my review yet though they handly well.
Anything would compared to the old bald 195s though lol
i ran the kuhmos, got about 10thousand ks on them with bad camber in a vt and bloody grippy tyre
i paid 195 each fitted for those
now runing the maxxis, they were 190 each fitted and a good hard wearing tyre
all 235 18s
I have the Maxxis MA-Z1s and love them. Really grippy.
