Hey Guys, Need a hand deciding what to do RE Exhaust.
I sent this email to Midas:
Hey There,
Looking for option to improve the performance and volume on my 2004 S-Pack Commodore. 3.8l V6 Auto. I would like to increase the volume of the exhaust (within legal limits) and the performance also.
Can you recommend anything? What would it cost?

Hello Daniel,
The most popular sports exhaust we fit to vehicles such as yours is a 2.5” mandrel bent system.
They cost $ 650.00 supplied and fitted including GST. It is not over the top, and will certainly not attract too much attention. It will also give you a noticeable performance improvement.
What do you guys recokn about the results? Will it be legal? Is it worth the money or is that a rip off. Any comments are great!
this topic has been covered a thousand times. thats a rip off price too

Yeah I thought so. What places are a good alternative in sydney. I am thinking a 2.5" catback with extractors will do... Would this be legal?
I got mine off ebay cost me $180 Easy to fit yourself.
2 bolts where it connects to the CAT Then 2 lugs for the muffler in the middle then another 2 near the end. Well that's how remember it.
I can recommend Carline Mufflers - they will beat anyone elses price and from my experience, do quality work. I had a 3.8 Ecotec 2.5 inch catback done for around $300 (dont remember exact amount sorry). I was more than impressed with the results.
MIDAS stands for M= monkeys I= in D= disguise A= as S= serviceman .
did they quote which brand they would use proex or red back ? which store did you contact ?
and was it a cat back system ?
Anyone know how long it would take them to install a cat back system? Is it a drop off pick up job or can u wait while its done...
i found tuff muff to be the cheapest, i recomend gettinng a redback 2.5 catback as they sound the best on the eco's
Its an ecotec... there will be minimal toughness comming from it as far as sound goes.
Also... Legal limit is quite low. So if youre after that "tough idle" you wont ever acheive it if youre concerned for legal limit.
Get 2.5 inch catback system with the rear muffler removed. Thats probally your best bet for sound. Probally cost you no more than 300-400 dollars fitted with a nice looking tip.
Thanks![]()
grennan, this guy isnt the original poster. is it for a v8 or v6?

Bah HIJACKERS!!!
Yeah if its for your 5.7l ... things change.
Probally looking at a twin two and a half inch. Ive kept all mufflers on mine and its still loud (with extractors) and they are a tad more expensive.
Haha sorry i did hijack the thread![]()
