I'm looking into upgrading to a VY Calais, keen to get blownand I'm getting told by some people that the charger was standard on VY 6cyl Calais. Is this true - or even close to true?
Seeing a lot of ads that dont mention the supercharger, and quite a few that do. Could I be overlooking the car that is for me just because someone has not listed it's key feature thinking it's standard?
I have a mate that bought a VX berlina - didn't know it had the supercharger till he showed me two weeks after he bought it.
The Supercharged V6 was an option , L67 , engine prefix on the VIN number. I have a Super VY Calais - best car I have ever owned. Great performance & excellent fuel economy. Just a matter of keeping eyes open for one. Often these donks are in the "Holden by Design" vehicles with other options like FactorySunroof/GPS etc. Mine has a Sunroof & GPS . Great buying if you can get one. Look at paying $15k to $20k though.
Yeh - I'm pretty committed, but to the $16k/$17k end of the market. What's the verdict on the integrated GPS ? I like the look/fit - but assume a modern gps is going to be cheaper and will outperform the 'antiquated' 5year old technology ?
Yes , its old tech, but it works OK, not colour maps or stuff like that , but its a factory unit & in a few years will be a classic , by the way it was a $3800 option for the VY, in 2002.!!! Its a Blaupunkt unit , ROM unit mounted in the boot & a custom screen unit lower centre console & control handset mounted a la mobile phone bracket on the passenger side of the console. How technology changes in a few years hey!!!
The HBD GPS is abit dated and doesn't name the street you need to turn into. I'd recommend a $200 generic stand alone any day over my HBD GPS. It's a waste of space really
VYII Calais L67
Supercharged V6 was standard. Ecotec V6 was optional.
That said there are still a lot of Ecotecs despite being optional.
i have a supercharged VY Calais series 1 in excellent condition with sunroof, 19" alloys, injected LPG etc, etc, that i will be selling next may if anyone is looking for one around then?
I'm Brisbane based myself - not willing to travel further than Sydney to pick up a car - but I'm sure you'll have no trouble.
