    Default Transmission rear seal

Hey I've got a slight leak in my rear transmission seal where the drive shaft comes out. Are these much hassel to change? Looks like it might be a pain in the ass to get the old one out? Has anyone on here done one? Thanx.

Poece of cake. You may lose a tad of tranny fluid when you remove the tail shaft but a good clean up and fit the new seal is all that's needed. Just be cautious about scoring the inside of the extension housing where the seal goes when removing it.

Lever on it with a big screwdriver alternating from side to side and working around it if you don't have a seal removal tool.

Success! I backed the car up on my ramps, crawled underneath, disconnected the tailshaft front and back and dropped the two bolts in the middle. Took a bit of effort to get the old seal out and then used it to hammer against to fit the new one. Two hours from start to finish, $22 for the new seal and saved god knows how much on labour. Higher ramps would have made it easier but not bad for first attempt, thanks Charged vx6!
