    Default VY Aircon

    Hey

I got a question bout my aircon. Obviosuly it was extreme temperature the other day, but it seemed my aircon couldn't keep up. I've got a VY SS . I had the aircon running on #4 and blasting on my face but it still seemed weak. It just wasn't that cold

How cold does it normally drop the temperature down to in the cabin ?

It seemed to work ok when the temperature droped, typical.

If i was to get the aircon serviced, do you think it will improve the temperature ? And i've recently had the aircon belt changed aswell..

yeah. it may be low on gas mate, i recommened re gassing it.. because if it runs out of gas it will cause problems with the compressor.

What about at idle? is the aircon fine then or?

I had this exact problem over the weekend, it was literally 40+ degrees yesterday and my aircon couldn't keep up either. Not sure if mine needs to be regassed as well. As soon as the temperature dropped a bit it was fine again. Let me know if you end up getting yours regassed and if it solves your problem.

i rang up Natrad, nd they told me that even on a good day, the car would struggle to keep up. they offerd me to drop it and have a mechanic hav a look @ it for free , but they quoted $150 to regas

i might ring up another local firm nd get there opinion

Yeah trust me the natrad guy is correct. a lot of a/c units struggle on 40+ days. I'm an ex fridgy & i came across a lot of these type of jobs on a regular basis during the summer months. u'll see the a/c will work better on the freeway on a 40+ day instead of local traffic conditions. Also, if the temp is too high there's a safety relay that stops the compressor from over heating & loosing all its oil or worse still burning out; so you can imagine on a 40+ day & the temp in the engine bay combined will stress out any a/c unit.

I ran my A/C no higher than 2 on the fan speed and set it to recirculate. I had no problems cooling on 40+ days.

If it needs to be regassed it has leaked out and there will be a leak somewhere that will need to be found and fixed.

Also 150 just to regas is a bit high i think, but i do work in the a/c and refigeration game and i can get the gas cheap.

    Agreed.

My A/C has never been regassed and it's still cold like a freezer.

    The truth has been spoken.

Never put your aircon above 2 (unless you are purging hot air out). You need to give the air time to be cooled.
If it's hot as hell outside, stop taking air from outside. Simple.
