VY petrol gauge stuck helpppp !!!!!!!!

well i just filled my tank right up today and went to drive home and noticed that my gauge was in the same spot as it was before i filled up now i filled it right to the top as far as it could go until it stopped yet my distance to empty reads 100k left and my petrol gauge stuck at a quarter i turned the car off and on to no avail please help what do I have to do to get it working.
